Gotta be honest, "Fight!" is not a particularly great closer to me and I've never been a big fan of Catch either. I can't not listen to Disintegration front to back though.

tbh if their best album ain't Disintegration, it's probably Head On the Door

Alright, fuck it.

FUCK IT.

I'm voting Loveless. I've been listening to it more often than SD recently.

The album just kind of drives me nuts with how all over the place it gets, which is also part of its charm, for sure. Once I re-ordered the tracklist into one disc of the more upbeat numbers and another of the moodier ones and it just didn't work. I still adore it though.

I've got more of a mad-on for the earlier period stuff, 17 seconds to Pornography. Would still say Disinitegration is the best though Faith might be my favorite. I dunno, it depends on the day.

Faith is probably my favorite of that trilogy, but it'd still be my 4th or 5th overall by them

top 3 is prob Disintegration, Head On The Door, & (wait for it) the self-titled

what can i say, it got me into the band & I love the sound of Cure w/ the "harder-edged" production

Fuck yes for self-titled love. I actually like it a whole bunch. Terrible victim of the better B-sides curse, I threw everything into it to make it a double album playlist and love most of it to death.

I DON'T NEEEEEEEEED YOUR US OOOOOOR THEEEEEEEEM

i actually picked up a physical of the Japanese version recently, which has 3-4 tracks not included on the US release

Didn't realize there were that many more outtakes from it

-The alt.end and Taking Off singles had "Why Can't I Be Me?" and "Your God Is Fear"
-The End Of The World single had "Fake" as well as "This Morning" which were the closers on the LP version of the album's B and D sides.

This Morning was really, really the last track the album deserved, it's so good

huh

it is of album length

not that it matters much. I second soniclovenoize's thoughts that ep's and albums are more or less one and the same.

when the cd was invented, album length was increased by a lot. 35 or so minutes are pretty normal standards before and after though.

I mean if you have 80 minutes of great music, sure. it doesn't justify machina's existence though, along with a lot of other far too long 90's/early 2000s albums

Yup. The real anomaly is that so many albums in the CD era had 16 songs and and were over an hour long

I know of more than one badass less than 10 minutes album

album length doesn't matter too much but songs that are longer than they need to be will kill an album
