ATTN Canadians - Question re: Shipping to US from canada

I live in the US. I bought a hockey jersey on ebay from a guy in Canada. How do I avoid paying the customs taxes on it when he mails it to me? What should he write on the customs form so I dont get charged a shit load of money? Any ideas?

Gift. And when he writes value just put like 20 bucks. I mean how much is it worth anyway?

alright, so "gift". should he write "shirt" too? it was 70$.

Also, send via canada post and not ups or whatever.

yeah. there should be a thing to check for gift. Then they write shirt or jersey or whatever and then a value under whats its worth. for all they know its second hand.
