I think it's pretty good. If you like Zwan and Oceania it'll probably interest you.

It's not as good as Hummer

Nice, slunken, a very honest and thoughtful critique.

We don't want honest and thoughtful critiques here, just kneejerk reactions. Like that prick who compared the song with the colour beige.

Having said that, the song was just so irrelevant to me that I couldn't possibly tap out a single paragraph about it.

At least it's no disappointment, since I wasn't expecting to hear anything greater than what's been released as album tracks over the past 7 years.

And this track is likely not the best from the MTAE album, considering the "logic" of many record labels when it comes to singles.
BWBW, Ava Adore, The Everlasting Gaze, Walking Shade, Tarantula, The Celestials - all albums had songs I enjoyed more than the singles.

I'd go for the deluxe limited teahouse reissue to hear the acoustic and alt demos of Being Beige.

Tbk, Oceania, MTAE and DfN together are 44 tracks, the magic number he wanted.

I seem to have been wrong about the lyrics, since Billy doesn't enunciate anything, it sounded a like a syrupy and sentimental song but a music site posted these lyrics:

"Yes, I loved you / As a matter of fact / Your fires are wrapped up / And that is that"
"You once made me smile / Then you strayed"

Well, that's fair too.

Really? That's it? It's all about just having specific number of songs? That's not a concept.

The 44 songs comment was sarcasm. I have no idea what the concept of teargarden was or is.

Never cared, Tbk (before Oceania) is something I wouldn't listen to again even if it's the only music available.

Christ 20 years from now Billy will put out an album of accordion music and the same 10 people will somehow find a way to bitch about Mike Byrne.

Get over it already.

Lol you guys are actually listening to this?

My three cursory listens of Oceania was the last time I will listen to anything new Corgan puts out.

Teargarden EP1 - 5 tracks (4 on CD and 1 on vinyl)
Teargarden EP2 - 5 tracks (4 on side 1 and 1 on side 2)
Lightning Strikes/Owata - 2 tracks
Oceania - 13 tracks
MtaE - 9 tracks

This totals 34. So it's pretty likely that Day for Night will be 10 tracks. There's also the wild card of the b-sides Billy and Jeff were writing.

Finally listened to "Being Beige". It seems like 80% of the people here thought it was horrible, and the rest thought it was the best thing he's written in years. I don't agree with either. It's not a great first single but it seems a lot less obviously offensive than stuff like "Widow", "Astral Planes", "The Fellowship", or "Quasar" (all of which are songs that I dig, but I can see why people are turned off). Will listen a few more times and let it sink in before I say anymore.

I will say this, it is pretty catchy and stays with you.

Still excited to hear MtaE, but clearly it will be a lot more poppy than we were led to believe. I'm holding out hope that the more metal/experimental side that we saw in 2008 is still in him, but maybe that will never happen.

An ideal scenario might be Billy hanging up the SP name for a while, and pursuing a bunch of different projects. I can see him and Jimmy working on stuff again, but not SP stuff. And whatever they did together would be pretty sublime if it were finally removed from all of BC's commercial obsession

that reaching a certain number of songs is the entire concept, and nothing else.

Maybe he'll get around to write about this concept in volume three of his mystic tale memoir.
He keeps referring to Persephone & co in his recording updates, so...

Four of Cups, baby, it's all in the cards [< predicting DfN album lyrics]

I think it's beautiful. Simple (on the surface), poetic lyrics. Not what I was imagining, but I'm cool with it. I thought a harder song might be served up first. I'm sure there's plenty of harder stuff on the album. Probably a strategic choice to go with something lighter for single number one.

don't really care for this song too much but I could see myself liking it more within the album, especially since I feel like it's more interlude-ish than anything.

definitely a weird choice for a single...again his vocals are way too high and weird and lack passion...it's mostly only obvious though during that beginning part with the drum machine...that is the worst part of the song.

overall I'm pretty disappointed because I always hold out hope he's going to make something great again but it's just not there.

one good thing was this got me to listen to Oceania again for the first time in a few months and I have to say I mostly enjoyed it...especially Pinwheels. That is a solid song. It's got some terrible cringeworthy lyrics like the rest of Oceania but the music is actually pretty solid. Based on this single, I'm just hoping the new album is on the same level as Oceania.

Jimmy just doesn't want to tour - and based on Belly's comments about Nicole and Bike Myrnes you've gotta go 100% pumpkins or get the fuck out.

If only Billy would go 100% pumpkins.
