I'm not sure why that line rankles so much -- and I love the song -- but man oh man do I wince at "a friend called Neil" Maybe he could've gone with "in my buddddddddddy Neil" |

I might be on my own here but I always felt the lyric "and nobody nowhere understands anything about me..." sounded a bit like self-pity or a parody of his lyric-writing.
