There was good and bad that came out of this. We got our rights to ceremonies back, our elders could come out into the open and start teaching traditions and language again, native women's rights were born out of this movement and it was no longer illegal to teach children Lakota in school. Now it's part of the curriculum, to keep the language from dying. We were able to run out Dickie Wilson and his thugs from having power over the rez and brought an end to his crime syndicate. The feds came in and started doing internal investigations...it turned out to be a big mess. Also, one of my relatives was killed during that stand off, Buddy Lamont.

FTR i am not in any way saying this thing in Oregon is comparable to Wounded Knee. The motives, grievances, etc in the two situations are completely different. But the reaction of the Feds in both situations is disgusting.

the Feds are letting those idiots come and go as they please! the authorities are just standing around and letting those assholes conduct a circus out there.

it's fucking insane. Any native people who did anything like this would be DEAD already.

I'm thinking that the feds have so far, gone very easy on the Bundys. It doesn't help that they keep bringing children out there either. I've been following "JJ Macnab" on twitter who seems to have some inside info here and there.

They think that stunts like this will lead to a spontaneous uprising that will overthrow the Federal government.

It's not like theyre barricaded in that building. They've been coming and going as they please. Even driving into town to eat at the local diner. Friends have been visiting. Reporters are coming G and going every day. And the Feds are just kind of hanging out down the road and letting it all happen. Kind of lame for a revolutionary movement.
