Default The cheesy pop-punk thread

I think the whole pop-punk craze of the early 2000's was one of the better mainstream trends to come along in awhile.

Looking back a lot of that music is incredibly cheesy.

So let's let this be the thread where we rejoice and share our love for some horribly embarrassing pop-punk songs that we still kinda have a soft spot for

Let me get the ball rolling:

I shutter to think that I liked these guys, but fuck, this song has some great melodies that stand the test of time

Can't have a cheesy pop-punk thread without the Goldfinger-Good Charlote- Mest collaboration.

I used to fucking love this song when I was 15

Actually still kinda holds up

And of course any pop-punk thread need the obligatory Blink 182 song

These guys really were a uniting force for me and friends in high-school. Everyone could bask in the Blink 182 love, and if you did it was easy to become friends with all of the other Blink fans. It's not like I was a hardcore fan, I was always more of a Green Day guy... But I definitely got in on the Blink craze... Fun times.

Funny Anecdote:

In 2001 Green Day's popularity was really waning... A lot of people in the industry were writing em off... Their tours weren't really bringing people in so Green Day went on tour to open up for Blink 182... HUGE TOUR... And the only reason Green Day decided to do it was to just destroy Blink every night in front of their own fan-base and steal their fans.

Every review for that tour ranted and raved about how Green Day just obliterated Blink and how they should have been the ones headlining.

Nicely played Green Day.

ahhh I dunno, Blink 182 was fun... Plus, all the little pop-punk girls were as cute as can be, it really was a cool style at the time.

Plus: the Warped Tours were always awesome at the time. You'd go with all your friends and there'd be the groups that I was more personally into like Nofx, Rancid, Bad Religion, Offspring ETC.

I really liked and still like "Ocean Ave" and "Only One" by Yellowcard. Can't imagine suffering through a whole album though.

Blink 182 is still good though; definitely don't belong in a "cheesy" thread.

You don't even have the fucking time period right. The pop punk craze was mid to late 90s. That's when Green Day and Blink and Goldfinger and the Offspring were at their most popular. By the early noughties that stuff had been replaced by emo pop like fall out boy and jimmy eat world and my chemical romance and the used.

Fuzzy continues to maintain that he doesn't actually like any of the bands he actually likes

They're bands I can't relate with anymore but still have a nostalgic appreciation for.

I think what trots was asking you to do was give us an example of bands you actually like rather than bands you constantly talk about but insist that you don't like anymore.

There's a ten year archive of them from before Fuzz turned up.
