every runny nosed foreigner employs an "Ai" to clean their apartments and such and even though they're paying in the end of the day they're bossing around a 50 year old woman to clean their shit up even though they're perfectly capable of just doing it by their own fucking selves, it's just kinda gross imo i dunno

I'd go between nah because I enjoy my privacy and want to be able to walk naked around my house or yes and paying her or him a living wage/treating her or him graciously

Although it's house cleaning, not a full time job, right? So I mean if not a living wage then to fairly compensate. Also don't waste her time

I thought that maybe I could assign her certain tasks. Stuff that I hate doing.

Windows, dusting, mopping the floors - they only need to be done weekly.

And then give her a budget for food and have her plan meals, shop and cook Monday-Friday, and do dishes.

We can make our own beds and tidy up ourselves, and clean our own bathrooms.

I kind of think that having an Alice would be nice. I've always liked that idea.

Also I come from a place of never having a maid when growing up so I don't know if this service is life changing or not. I've thought about hiring our house cleaning when the time comes that mike and I are both working full time and live in a bigger place. Floors, laundry, bedding, dusting, that kind of thing.

Yeah I guess in the sense that I might end up home schooling two children and I'll have a bigger place to take care of, and I currently cook at least twice a day just to keep my kids well fed, my domestic workload is probably heavier.

But in terms of employing someone else to do these jobs for me, just because the dice rolled so that I can afford to do that, and she needs the money to survive...I am kinda the same

Thanks for saying this. I can't decide if it's true but I appreciate the encouragement.

Yeah see I do worry about this. Not that I see myself as being quite this efficient, but I could definitely inflict lasting damage, if the lunar cycle has aligned badly with my menstrual cycle and my children and husband have pissed me off one too many times.

cleaning up after strangers can be one of life's most humbling experiences

think of it as providing the impoverished with spiritual wealth

I'm sorry that we can't all grow up and copy our parents to earn a living and never have to wrestle with gnawing uncertainty about our place in the world and what we should do with our lives, but for some of us, cooking twice a day actually feels like death.

I think you should get one Vix. Why the heck not? Would give you more time to spend with your boys. You deserve it.

That seems like too little cooking, here's how much I cook on an average day:

1. breakfast
2. brunch
3. elevenses
4. lunch
5. afternoon snack
6. tea
7. supper
8. dinner
9. midnight snack
