it seems that there's spyware when you download it: it tracks how often you play a song. so fuck it.

It's not spyware. It's basically doing the same thing that Last.fm or iLike do when you install them by reporting your listening habits back to the server.
It's all a moot point anyway because they haven't finalized any licensing deals with the majors yet. I'm definitely interested in checking it out when it's live for Mac. I'd love to see this model work and lead down the path of free music for all labels, both major and indie. |
