i was just posting pics of some of the cool movies i've watched. i don't think i have that good taste. if i watch a shitty film i keep quiet about it, mournfully. it's like reading a bad book. a shame best kept secret.

Black Cougar - 1/5
Horrible film with some intensely funny moments, the army of black cougar toys during the infiltration scene was the best thing about this film.
The insane buttrocky title track was great though.

ps.: not a marvel product

Sicario: Death of the Cabarone -

on a Denis Villeneuve streak now after loving Arrival. the film was ok, pretty standard stuff and fairly dragging a lot of the time for my tastes (had to watch it in two parts after being sent off into sleep by it).

but by far and large the best thing about it was the absolutely gorgeous cinematography. Roger fucking Deakins, man. unbelievable. the man is prodigal and a true artist. this movie is all about him, really - his work here is head and shoulders above any other aspect of the film. at many times i thought to myself the film looked like Kubrick at the top of his game. it's up there with the most beautiful films i'd ever seen, visually. pretty much worth the price of admission for that alone.

I downloaded Eraserhead and The Skin I Live In, but I couldn't get through the first fifteen minutes of Eraserhead because it reminded me too much of that girl I like and how when dropping me off after our first date, she said "we should watch a weird movie some time," and all I could think about is how I would like nothing more that to cuddle her as we watch some surreal arthouse picture. I had to turn it off and go to sleep.

I think Mulholland Drive is his high point but Blue Velvet is my personal favorite. So many great Dennis Hopper moments

I really liked the concept in general and wish they did more than just a very straight forward revenge action film.
Also, I Predicted the twist pretty early on in the movie.

pauline & paulette: good stuff. fun to watch again.

welp: ok. one of those movies where they're in a forest and then everyone dies.

d'ardennen: ok-ish. not all that great, but i don't regret watching it. story about two brothers where one of them ends up going to jail for a crime they both had a part in, and the other one starts seeing his brother's girlfriend... and then the brother is released from jail. bit of crazies, bit of violence, bit of murder. could have been better.

de rouille et d'os: very good. father and little boy move to the south of france, to live with the aunt. father is still a little child, basically, but it makes for a beautiful movie. someone's legs are lost because of orca.

de president: shite dutch comedy, where an illegal refugee somehow becomes the president of the netherlands. i can't believe i watched the whole thing.

iedereen beroemd!: another comedy. entertaining enough, but not very good. plot doesn't make a lot of sense.
