I'm just being silly, of course. It's hard not to enjoy a story about someone like Frodothy kind of lucking into the one pair of shoes to rule them all and having to assemble a ragtag group of allies to take on the apparently insurmountable threat of an enemy as malevolent as they are a long walk.

Last of all Hurin stood alone. Then he cast aside his shield, and wielded an axe two-handed; and it is sung that the axe smoked in the black blood of the troll-guard of Gothmog until it withered, and each time that he slew Hurin cried: 'Aure entuluva! Day shall come again!' Seventy times he uttered that cry; but they took him at last alive, by the command of Morgoth, for the orcs grappled him with their hands, which clung to him still though he hewed off their arms; and ever their numbers were renewed, until at last he fell buried beneath them. Then Gothmog bound him and dragged him to Angband with mockery.

It sort of blows my mind that a fan of Conrad and McCarthy could derive any level of literary satisfaction from that paragraph.

Did you know that McCarthy abhors Conrad?

This entire world is a mindfuck, bro.

And I've only read Blood Meridian/Outer Dark/The Road and Jim/Heart/Narcissus so I'm not worthy of being called a fan.

But perhaps you are right. I am not very critical. I kind of go with what I feel like and I have a tendency to get carried away and obsess. I also like archaic shit, real or affected. Sorry.

Then Dagathor of Romulon smote that blackened weasel nestled betwixt his steel-caps and that eternal bane of gravity known to the wandering men of Smurbelforg as Earth; those warriors that had usurped his jovial tenor through the pummeling of spatulas upon knock-off Tupperware. With every blow of rubber upon plastic, he set forth a cry of, "Bah! Erveuwueh! Stand before me and bow; for I am the promised kurbl of Endelore. The Eternal Turd of yore!" Stampeded upon by those merciless curs, their thrashing arms a flurry of glinting sparks as light from the Star of Ricardo rode upon their polished wristwatches like fashionable, metallic mares on some distant plain. "Stand off," he gurgled as they set upon him like weevils upon a Norwegian flatmate's large array of dried foods, each blow a cumulative contribution to the encephalopathic demise that had become his destiny.

Standing ovation stuff, right there.

P.S. Didn't know that, no. Surprising.

"Who knows now the counsels of Morgoth? Who can measure the reach of his thought, who had been Melkor, mighty among the Ainur of the Great Song, and sat now, a dark lord upon a dark throne in the North, weighing in his malice all the tidings that came to him, and perceiving more of the deeds and purposes of his enemies than even the wisest of his enemies feared...

I'm writing a fantasy screenplay for my older son. It's hard because I haven't read a lot of fantasy. But it's his favourite genre. I'm trying to come to terms with the fact that he doesn't want to be an All Black and wants to read fantasy novels and play Magic the Gathering and RPGs that his friend makes up.

It's basically a terrible Jumanji and Stranger Things rip off. I'll msg what I have so far, to you. But pls don't send it to anyone else

I don't think he'll like it, but I know he'll like it that I tried.

Maybe you can help me make it less shitty...?

wow that's a pretty steep price

I was hoping you would settle for home made soup and crying while we listen to streets of Philadelphia but in retrospect that is pretty cheap. Maybe we can meet in the middle.

Heh. A quarter pound of chonic in Singapore would probably cost several million dollars. A gram of hash in S Korea was $60-70. And their's is a a lenient culture compare to Singapore's.

What kind of soup? I love eating. Do they have hot pot in Singapore? I always heard incredible things about the food there because of all the culinary fusion from all the cultures that meet there.

The only time I ever did mdma was in Seoul. My dealer sold me two capsules for $200.

Best drug I have ever done. Most expensive too heh.

GLAURUNG'S BANE

Turin: murders Saeros, rejects Thingol's pardon, kills Beleg, usurps Nargothrond, rejects Ulmo's counsel, abandons Finduilas, murders Brodda and his Easterling bros, marries his sister Nienor, murders Brandir and kills himself.

Have I missed anything?

With the aid of Cirdan Earendil built Vingilot, the Foam-flower, fairest of the ships of song; golden were its oars and white its timbers, hewn in the birchwoods of Nimbrethil, and its sails were as the argent moon.
