My take on the genesis of the xenomoprh (SPOILERS): David used the (barren) womb from Dr. Shaw, plus carefully modulated bits of the Black Goo, to create the eggs that grow the facehuggers. If this is true, and the eggs are deliciously evil perversions of human female ovaries, designed by a naughty robot who resents (and thus wants to destroy) his parents, I can't think of a better origin story. Seems to echo Stephen Hawking's latest prediction that if a pandemic doesn't cause humans to go extinct in 100 years, it will be rogue AI that does it |

Blush (Barash in Hebrew)
B This is an Israeli film from 2015. The main character is a 16 year old Israeli girl named Naama who falls in love for the first time with a rebellious new girl at her school. A bit slow. Early on it feels like it may be heading to some dark places, with mild illusions to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and a sub plot involving Naama's older sister. available now on Netflix |

Alien Covenant - shithole boring miserable excuse for a film providing answers to awful questions that nobody ever asked. The predictable journey of a director's unlikeable self-insert android character.

Guardians of the Green Screen: Vol 2
Starts off messy but eventually gets its shit together. Loved Kurt Russell as Ego. A lot of the humor falls flat and the classic hits weren't as good as they were in the previous movie, but it was still a lot of fun. B- Very predictable and succumbs to the formulaic tropes of the horror genre a few too many times, but fuck it, I liked it more than I should have. It's clear that Ridley Scott wanted to give audiences the best of both worlds; i.e.: wanted to scare people silly like he did with Alien but still get out of the corner that that idiot Damon Lindelof wrote him into with Prometheus. Michael Fassbender makes this movie about ten times better that it had any right being. Better than Prometheus and the best Alien movie since Aliens, but the series still hasn't returned to its former glory. At least it's doing a better job that the Terminator franchise has. B- |

Lavender 1/5. My 11 year old was sick and couldn't sleep, and watched it with us, and wasn't scared at all.
Satanic 2/5 this one scared me but I don't think it would scare a normal person. But it's my rating so I'll give it a 2. |

The Poseidon Adventure - 6/10
Good, corny '70s disaster movie with a stacked cast. Felt a little hokey at times, and the acting left a bit to be desired, but it never felt dull. |

T2 Trainspotting - 3/5
Totally fine, decent movie. It's big fault is being a sequel to one of my favorite films ever. Fwiw I thought it was better than I expected Get Out - 4/5 Loved this film, very fun and tense. It balances suspense and humor very well. Unfortunately I was able to call what the twist would be way before it happened. Still I had a good time Colossal - 2/5 The idea is great, but holy shit are all characters very poorly written in this. Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis actually try their damndest to breathe life in their characters, but the writing does them no favors. Film was probably a couple script treatments away from being a good film. |

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 last night. Had a great time. Thought it was on par with the first and I may have even enjoyed it a hair more. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments for me (trash panda, I'm Mary Poppins y'all!). Essentially, what a comic book movie/summer blockbuster should be.
8 or 9/10. Haven't decided. |

I'm just being dickish because I thought Guardians was very disappointing... It felt like they tried too hard to outfunny the first one and most jokes fell flat to me.
But I respect your opinion despite my impulse to be shitty about it. |
