Default what's your fav demos

you can vote for multiple options.

12 options is the max though, so i haven't included the reel time sessions or any of the demos that came from it (moon demo, gish basement tape demo) since it also ended up being the studio release versions of lots of those tracks (i am one, not worth asking, by june, daughter, honeyspider I and II).

also didn't include pi+f since it's the same recordings that ended up on pi, same with the b-sides tape, and sequence iv, gish rough mix, mcis rough mix, etc.

All the Pre-Gish demos are way better than any of the other stuff.

make your own demo tape tracklist, using tracks from the demos listed above!

Also, far be it from me to criticize Trev, who has offered many pos reps in my honour, but couldn't the mcis demos and adore demos be lumped together? I mean in two groups.

Speaking of demos, the itunes version of the Pisces came with a copy of the demo tape. Unfortunately I lost my original files and itunes offers no way to redownload it.

My favorite demos, which aren't in the poll, are the ones we'll never hear from the Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1: No Past. No Future. No Sun. sessions! I'm sure they're pure genius!

Unhappy

He blocked me for mentioning MCIS. I know I messed up and I am really sorry, but every time I start a new account I keep making mistakes.

yeah i under-estimated the love for pre-gish stuff.

i was just impatient to see a qaos vs gravity vote tbh.

i like some of the pre-Gish stuff, even if they hadn't fully "come into their own" yet, but it sure as fuck isn't better than QAOS, Gravity, etc

One of the strengths of the pre-Gish material is that the songs are mostly fully-formed, both in terms of composition and recording, compared to just about every other demo recording since then. The songs sound as good and complete as possible, and are worthy of being put out as an album.

After Gish, most of the demo recordings sound more like early rough ideas, and the effort to expand upon them came about when they were recording the album they would eventually appear on.

Yeah that's a good point. Likely they were recording to pre-Gish stuff as an early attempt to make an actual album not knowing if they would ever get signed, so like you said the ideas and compositions were pretty fully formed.

I remember how legendary QAOS was and everyone saw it on BC's BMI page in the late 90's. Someone said they went to the Library of Congress and actually listened to it. But when it was leaked and I listened, it didn't really live up to the hype. It's ultimately exactly what it is, just kind of so-so rehearsal versions of SD songs.
