Slunk, Drown, La Dolly Vita, Blue, and Starla belong to the Gish era. So does Obscured, but it wasn't released until 1993.

He said in the 'deep dive' on Gish on the SP Youtube channel that they were playing around with Drown around the time they were recording Gish, but it wasn't ready yet. I think he might have said the same about Starla but could be wrong

Both Drown and Starla are from the Siamese era for sure. Drown might be the catalyst for the change.

drown was first demoed in 1991 along with rocket and silverfuck as the first batch of "new" songs after gish. |

So sick of this “imagine” meme as an effortless way of casting shade on someone else’s words or views or feelings or tracklist
Imagine being a lazy humorless negative sack of shit using an irritating played out meme, it took more effort to log in here than to make that post, why even bother? Anyway this is all to say, fuck you, this is a boundary, stop saying “imagine” it’s making me upset which is not good for my recovery |

it's weird to think Starla was Gish era. it sounds so much bigger and gazy than everything else

Drown and Starla have Siamese Dream vibes to me, I can't separate them from that era even if it isn't entirely accurate. I actually had no idea they weren't SD outtakes, they really feel like they are.

Drown and Starla sound nothing like SD though. The production and mixing is lifted straight from the Gish playbook.
Sure they were recorded after Gish came out, but that doesn't make them Siamese Dream outtakes either. Starla was literally released on a Gish single. |

you are all wrong
eras are delineated by the length of Billy's hair and then the length of his gaultier |

they just pushed ahead the recording and releasing of a few tracks to fill some gaps between albums. plume was also going on the siamese album recording pile until they were asked for some b-sides. |

if they hadn't been pushed through, they would have gotten the full SD treatment @ the SD recording sessions December 1992 – March 1993
Early rocket recordings suffer from the same "gish treatment", but got the "step up" at Triclops. There's no reason to think Plume, Starla & Drown would not have benefited in the same way. Once GISH was out... everything after is SD era. |

I'm happy with the way Starla sounds
I agree on rocket, though. Gish era versions have a very different feel. imagine all the pre-gish songs having the "gish treatment" tho |

Imagine all of Gish getting the SD treatment
Imagine MCIS with the SD treatment. imagine ADORE with the SD treatment. Imagine CYR as the turd that it is. |

Imagine listening to the 1996 Pastichio Medley (Split) (T&T) that T&T painstakingly separated and never saying thanks. Thanks buddy, I should have said it much sooner!

I am super interested in a MCIS and Adore makeover, SD style. Not interested enough to learn instruments to make it, but I would listen to the fuck out of those!
