Ok ok ok, this is growing on me. I guess my biggest complaint WAS the fact that the vocals seemed disjointed and they don't really gel with the instrumentation. But, this is nice.

bleep version has tons of elements that are completely fantastic. the vocal production, vocal harmonies, the atmosphere. the electronic drums are also my favorite of all SP electronic style songs. still gives me shivers when I listen to it. the bleeps don't take away from it being a great song that was well recorded/produced. I find it very stripped down, even though lots is going on. I always assumed the stripped down element was why it was left off adore. james's guitar work makes me yearn for old SP really bad - it really complements the song perfectly.

I like this, just as well as the acoustic demo version. The final version somehow never grabbed me.

They sampled someone talking on the radio, and constructed the rhythm track by using the individual consonants of the speech for the programmed drums, like a "ts" for a snare and a "pb" for a kick, etc. That's pretty fucking cool.

That IS cool. I did not know that. That kind of explains that one particular sound that I've always taken to be Billy going "BLEE" into a microphone. Don't have the song handy but it's one of the first sounds once the drums kick in. ... It always sounded like he was starting to scold someone named Blee, like "(sigh) BLEE, stop kicking your sister."

Still don't think it's the right approach for the song but that slightly, slightly mitigates my discomfort with it.

.
I always thought it was "BLEED" because that was a working title for Blissed and Gone, IIRC. Maybe not, I might just be psychotic.

a psychotic creep.

Oh, and I loved the Goofus n gallant cartoon.

The working title was "Need", as in "I need you around".

EDIT: Oh wait I think we just thought it was called "Need" up until Adore came out, and we thought it was called "17". Then Corgan identified it's actual title live during the Adore Tour. nvm

I am going to guess that this was just some kind of alternate version of the song since it does not mention anything about 2014.

What else did he tell you?

What was he wearing?

Did he have a mustache?

That's awesome. Who was that specifically? There was a lot of personnel during that time...

He actually throw in extra consonants in addition to the slurry vowel sounds. On the 2011 tour, For Martha was a prime example:

"Just hanging DON"
"But for the grace of love/I'd will the meaning DUVVV"

I know he said in some post-2000 interview that he tries make more consonant sounds live because vowel sounds are more stressful on vocal chords.
