there was a 24bit 96khz MCIS uploaded at one point because I have it...
and there's discussion of it's legitimacy in the replies Quote:
I have no idea why it was removed. 2.51GB for 2 hours of 24/96 is right. and the files are full frequency according to my spectrum views... actually the folder I have is 2.61GB the rip is noisy and clicky I have a 24-96 capable sound card (motu 896) and I have the vinyl but no record player... i had my vinyl ripped at 16/44 way back but it's also noisy and clicky. I will take a gander to the removal it was a rip of a bootleg vinyl not an original. the vinyl I have was purchased in 2000, un numbered, but with a white box. is that conisidered an "original" and worth ripping up to what. I could use a bounty right now. yet 8gb won't help my * Up: 398.16 GB * Down: 617.70 GB * Ratio: 0.64 30gb up only got me from .62 to .64 |

in the rip i have, there's artwork, and the vinyl jacket also has the white box.
on black vinyl. so it's not one of the cheap boots that recently surfaced |

best version of machina around. I will take the time to rip MCIS if it's needed, but I need to know why the current 2496 rip was taken down/refused/rejected from the what overloards. I don't want to repeat those mistakes. |

of the 2496 rips that I have, albums (60 mins) usually run at 1-1.2GB Gish - 932 MB SD - 1.15 GB Adore - 1.5 GB because it's 80mins year zero - 1.6GB with teeth - 1.3 GB fragile - 1.9 GB 2.6 GB for 120 mins seems completely correct. I'm talking FLAC file comperssion.... I have NIN Ghosts ripped at 2496, and it's only 847MB, but that's because it's actually just 16bit upsampled to 24bit... and those extra 8 bits all got dropped in the flac compression. so that's not a proper 2496 rip, more of a 1696 rip. |

As for the Mellon Collie one it sounded alright in length..I have a Machina 24bit which is what..about 80 minutes and that is 1.59gb roughly. It was probably pulled because some fool didn't know what he was doing. |

Ok. I've taken a look at why it was deleted and apparently it didn't sound good:
There was originally a huge request bounty on this (8GB+) but the vinyl rip that filled the req is awful, even after two re-rips. What everybody is after is a high quality 24-bit/96kHz transfer, not something that sounds worse than the CD. Unless you want to feel the scorn of people already burnt by the last attempt, make sure you've done a good job of it. So no, don't use the existing rip to fill this request - we all know about it, and a lot of people with small ratios have hurt themselves on it already. I'm not concerned about wasting ratio, I just want to hear my favourite album the way it should be. |
