Concert Bootleggin' Equipment?
With all the shows I go to, I might as well start some light recording... it just kinda makes sense. Plus, it seems like nobody is bootlegging these upcoming BC (can't bring myself to call him WPC with a straight face, even in this context) and I might as well do that for the betterment of the human race.
Any advice for what equipment would make a solid recording that is worth the effort/risk? What kind of cash outlay are we talkin' here? |

$250-$350 for a small digital recorder and another $100-$150 for a nice set of stereo clip-on microphones. Bare bones.

I like Core Sound mics. If you get a recorder that can supply power to the mics, you can skip the battery box.

Damn, the Sony PCM-M10 is discontinued. I'll be back with another recommendation.

Edirol R‑05 ($199.99)
Tascam DR-40 Marantz PMD 620 Tascam DR70d (Big but only 300 new and 4 channels which you won't need.) bhphotovideo.com (my fav) and Sweetwater.com are both solid. Edit: This guy hand builds good stuff. He's pretty respected & trusted. http://naiant.com/custom_audio_repro...t/microphones/ http://naiant.com/custom_audio_repro...nline-devices/ Edit 2: If you want to go all in on mics there's always the DPA 40xx series... http://www.dpamicrophones.com/microphones I've also heard great things about these and they are more affordable... http://www.countryman.com/b3-omnidir...er-microphone/ Last edited by MplsTaper : 11-03-2017 at 05:07 PM. |

I have these microphones:
https://www.church-audio.com/shop/mi...ie-microphone/ And an older version of this pre-amp: https://www.church-audio.com/shop/pr...a-9200-preamp/ If you are buying new, make sure to send the guy an e-mail to see if he has them in stock, or else they might take quite a while to be made/shipped. Also, check out the Yard Sale forum at http://taperssection.com/index.php |
