Default REM - Monster 25th anniversary

This is the only REM album I really like, and one of the formative albums of my youth. The new vinyl remaster sounds excellent. The remix is stupid though, it pumps up all the vocals and softens the guitars.

So get this version, which is just the remaster:

I fucking do love Monster though, and yeah, the remixes are awful.

The remixes are a mix bag of really good and really bad. I love this album. I wish most REM albums sounded like it.

I've heard Up and New Adventures In Hi-Fi. I didn't like them much.

While I do love those albums, you're missing a pretty important chunk of their career only listening to the 90s albums there, champ

That's a cool one, I think they opened a few concerts with it in the mid-00s or something

That's another thing I always loved about them, when they played live pretty much any track in their discography was fair game - definitely not just a "play the hits" band

If you want jangly guitar R.E.M. I'd say just start with one of the first 2 records
