$18 per workday is bad but seems possible. I don't know New Jersey transit

if someone is spending 400 a month on train fare, it might be worth it to look into monthly passes and whatnot even if you won't use it everyday. that's exorbitant.

i pay $100 a month for my cta pass with unlimited train and bus ride and it went up from $86 a couple years ago. when i am in school, though, it is covered in the tuition, and it's nice to save that bit of money. but of course you know all this.

Yes. A monthly pass is more but thank you for the unsolicited advice

Ok it may be closer to 4,500 are you guys happy now. Fuck. It's 30.50 round trip x 3, sometimes 4 times a week and $2.75x2 and sometimes 3. So ~366 a month for just NJ Transit. Monthly is $445. I am a student but I drive to school. So I don't think that's applicable

For the record I wasn't asking for advice on crunching numbers here. Don't operate under the impression that I haven't done it myself.

Somerville > NY Penn Station. This is around 50 miles. It's an INSANE cost considering the short distance. It's so much cheaper for me to have a car. And I'm not moving to the city. One day I'll get a better job or be paid more and it won't matter
