Did Queens of the Stone Age fill the 2000s Smashing Pumpkins void?
Fuzzy guitars, energetic drums, some abstract lyricism, internal fighting etc.

Thinking that SP left a void that needed filling is wishful thinking.

I mean, they're categorically a more successful act throughout the 2000s so I wouldn't say they filled any void related to bill's sad life story, they just yknow, actually rocked

Hey guys, remember when I shared youtube footage of that show I played wherein I was in a band that played Siamese Dream live start to finish? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...E-jcL-XqvJFj9Q
Did the same with QOTSA's 'Songs For The Deaf' too https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...xu4Vb2wds_A0nQ 8======D~~~~~ |

Yes
QOTSA certainly had a very good run during the first half of the 2000s. Their second and third albums were excellent, and their fourth album had several great songs too. I have a fond memory of seeing them play with Dave Grohl on drums during the Songs for the Deaf tour.

While I admit Queens are a good band, they're 100% testosterone powered. Josh Homme has a total Elvis Pelvis thing going on.
SP are the exact opposite. Bonus banter: I think MCR would be a more apt example in some respects. To wit: Last edited by Funbags : 05-25-2017 at 12:04 AM. |

I would say he has a Jack Bruce of Cream thing going more than an Elvis thing going. But I can see the Elvis comparison too.

I saw qotsa open for zwan a great show i thought it was funny that qotsa stage was all red, devil, badass and then zwan was all rainbows and sunshine. I was still young enough to have gotten there super early and got to watch the show leaning on the front of the stage. We hung out with some netphorians afterwards but i have no idea who it was so long ago

It's hilarious to recall that qotsa were still such a niche band early on the songs for the dead tour that they opened for fucken ZWAN

So does that make Troy the James Iha of the group since he's a rythym guitarist and wears sharp suits in videos and on tour. And Joey Castillo is Jimmy since Josh fired him?
