Siamese Dream: An honest question..
Ahhh, Siamese Dream. What is it about that fucking piece of sonically crafted genius that makes it hurt SO GOOOOOOOOD!?
Its there & then it's gone after giving your brain and earholes a good aural raping and your left reeling wanting more EVERY GODDAMN TIME! Seriously, guys. It's some sort of intangible auditory heroin.. No fucking way that anything like it will ever be made again in this reality, jussayin.. |

All of the songs are really good, but I love how the best ones are clustered together, like Hummer>Rocket and Soma>Geek U.S.A.>Mayonaise

I never thought about that, Pasta but yeah you are right. Hummer-Mayonaise blows my fucking brains out and fucks it while it's writhing on the ground

I don't think I've ever heard a good SP cover. It's not because SP is sacred to me and no-one should dare touch the songs or anything, it's just that anyone who tries seems to kind of suck.

lol. I've heard ONE. Lemme find it
P.S: You guys won't believe who the band is and what song they had the balls to cover, either. haha Last edited by DisconnectD : 06-25-2012 at 02:21 AM. Reason: Adding the link I mentioned |

It's from their Anatomy of album which is covers of all of their greatest influences. Apparently the album Colors opens with a piano piece because they were influenced so much by MCIS

It's probably more the production rather than the actual songs that I find untouchable. That Geek cover feels weak and robotic, like if the current SP were to re-record it.

Well the band only did it for fun and if you are a fan of Between the Buried and Me, they definitely put their own twist to it, which to me is the mark of a good cover. I for some reason really do like the vocals but yes it is definitely lacking the PUNCH of the original plus they don't have Jimmy the monster Chamberlain propelling them forward

Yes, I think that bands that want to cover the pumpkins and make an impact in doing so should stick with Mellon Collie or Gish because nothing can even come close to replicating Siamese dream's sound production and arrangment. Hell, I don't even think Billy could do it if he wanted to. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure there is a quote somewhere of him saying that he wouldn't be able to equipment wise & how the fuck are you going to get all of those snake-like guitar layers in there again the way it was done? You just can't do it and that elevates the album that much higher for me.

The guitars sound like amp sims not real amps. And there's a ton of autotune. Surprisingly, it sounds like they went to the trouble of using real drums.
