"I wish I had the last few minutes of my life back it took me to read this crud. You should stick to EDM or whatever trendy music you are into this week, You obviously don't understand the craftsmanship or quality of music FF release- or even comprehend the care that must go into actually writing (yes, they actually WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC) an entire album, rather than the "single" or "club banger" yo..... The FF are in the spotlight because the majority of their catalogue is held in high regard and supported by millions! Quite a feat considering the state of the record industry. Judging by the sales & viewers of Sonic Highways, your opinion is in the minority... Maybe for your next article you can report on how "sweet" it is to hacky sack to Phish & DMB ...or how "stoked" you are on the new super secret Skrillex re-re-re mix. In the words of another HBO character, Ari Gold- "silence is golden"."

I really liked Foo Fighters first three albums. After that it all sort of runs together. all my life was a good single though.

I only listened to Skinny Puppy for a short period in my life but I never found any record I liked as much as the compilation of their first two, Bites and Remission. It would have been nice if they could have had a singer. I mean Nivek Ogre is a good frontman and showman but his "singing" gets old really fast.

you don't really understand Skinny Puppy, do you. he was a founding member of the band!

yes I know that and yes as a showman he's great and I know his voice was deliberate (they had an early song called my voice sounds like shit) but regardless. I'm saying it's what kept me from enjoying more skinny puppy in the end. It kinda got repetitive after a while and felt too..theatrical. I guess I wanted something that sounded more real. I remember the Skinny Puppy guys being a little pissed off when more commercial industrial like NIN broke through, like "we've been doing this shit for years". Well, they shouldn't have been surprised. NIN was just melodic enough (actually the first record is basically synthpop with a dark edge) to break through and Reznor's voice was certainly more..evocative. Whereas Skinny Puppy's sound was always too...kinda niche for commercial appeal. I'd have thought they knew that....

They became good when they became more ambitious and personal with that 3rd album...The first two albums are embarrassing. Granted, they were young, and very competent for their age but that's it.

There's nothing wrong with their first two albums. Frogstomp has some good Sabbath-esque jams on it like "Israel's Son". Second album had some good songs on it too. Sure they were derivative of their influences, but that's never stopped me from listening to a band if I liked what they do.

I'll reiterate with this:

Just a BIT more advanced than Frogstomp, no?

Frogstomps just a terrible album. Aside from Tomorrow the whole things practically unlistenable. Same goes for Freak Show. It wasn't until Neon Ballroom that they started making some quality music.

actually Cemetery's from Freak show right? That's a great song, really the only good song on the album.

Supergrass sucked. Only good 90s Britpop is Blur and the Verve.

Supergrass is pretty good

Britpop in general is weak though. It drops the androgyny aspect that makes that style of music great.

Blur is boring as fuck
