I was there it was like they were killing rock thats why i hate bithkit so much stopped listening to modern rock radio at that point got my education in the classics like zep and bowie. I thought rock was dead had no idea sleater-kinney existed at the same time as bizkit. They are the diametric opposite

Buckcherrys god awful. I remember when that buttrock crazy-bitch song was huge and played at any club/bar every night. It's funny how that songs been basically swept under the rug in Tonic-like fashion. You never hear it played anywhere anymore.

haha yeah and bands like Fuel and that Hanging by a moment band.

I actually really liked the Lit CD at the time. Me and my buds would just be listening to that shit playing games like NHL Faceoff and Roadrash 3D for the Playstation. I Haven't heard it in probably 15 years though so I bet its aged just terribly

PJ's great but my god, they sure inspired the worst possible knock-off bands imaginable.

It's quite fascinating really. Usually knock-offs are decent enough for what they are but man....

1. i like the first fuel album. still listen to it now and then.

2. i only remember that one tonic song, if you could only see or w/e

3. buckcherry probably is the worst out of all the bands mentioned so far. somewhere along the line i had one of their albums and man it was offensively bad.

4. bush has some OK singles and i havent listened to any albums besides their first one, but many that one was awful. not as bad as buckcherry though.

5. lit can suck it

Fascinating indeed.
The earliest knock-off band would be Candlebox, right? Or early STP, before they got more personal.Even Hootie & the Blowfish was a PJ knockoff in its own way, wasn't it? At least vocally.

As for 3rd generation bands, I thought Fuel was alright. Very generic but fine.I would have to listen again though. On the other hand, i might have a different perspective : I've never heard one of their songs on the radio over and over and over as I'm sure it was the case in the US.

Failure is a fantastic band, with a real vision. Three albums, three awesome albums from 92 to 96. Ken Andrews sort of reminds me of Billy in that Failure is HIS project. Failure has nothing to do in the contrived third rate third generation commercial alternative pseudo grunge bandwagon. lol

Seven Mary Three is probably in my top 10 of favorite bands... Cumbersome is lame, they hate playing it live too. But they have about 5 albums of great material. Underrated imo, I've seen them live probably close to 25 times. Sadly they are no longer playing music. The drummer is a financial advisor for other rich people. The vocalist/guitarist is a producer, the bass player is in another band called NerVer. I'm not sure what the other guitarist is doing these days. I also enjoy Fuel (first album at least), the Nixons and some of the other bands mentioned on here. I just listen to what I like and don't really care about who they are ripping off or sounding like.

Do you guys remember

The Verve Pipe
Stabbing Westward
Gravity Kills....

i just don't understand why anyone would listen to glorified cover bands like gravity kills. you must be able to tell they are inferior to the band that they literally imitate on behalf of the major label

the verve pipe had freshmen, one of my most hated goddamn songs ever

So on point with this comment.

I'll suggest that 3rd wave grunge is what spawned Nickelback.

Heres another 3rd wave grunge band that I haven't seen mentioned yet

I actually kind of dig this song. I picked up their cd for next to nothing ages ago and still haven't felt compelled enough to actually listen to it lol

Heres another kind of 3rd wave grunge band. Only know this one song by them. It was a hit for awhile in the late 90's.

Pretty catchy little ditty despite the stupid lyrics

The first Fuel album is pretty good. Some nice songs on that one. The same with Happiness Is Not A Fish by Our Lady Peace.
