look, he says he's doing both. he'll do the acoustic as a solo album and the rock as a Smashing Pumpkins album. i doubt it, but i would be perfectly fine with it. i seriously doubt he's going to do the acoustic thing at all though. if he really believes this is the 'best reception the band has gotten since '98' he's going to want to capitalize on that, not ruin it with experimentation. the Billy that made Adore to defy expectations is long gone, and he admitted as much in another Q&A.

I've never seen a person who puts so much effort into overthinking everything.

Stop planning just record stuff, put stuff out, go on tour play stuff.

If you like any of the albums SP or WPC has put out, none of them are the result of just recording stuff and putting it out. It's a business, not fine art.
