The one thing that seems strange to me is why is Corgan so against being a guitar driven band? The guitar is essentially the backbone of what pumpkins music is. For example, the Adore album was a heavily driven electronica type album but without the timely guitar leads it wouldn't have projected the same emotional feeling that gives the record so much depth. With a song like "Adore", the live guitar version was always much better and more lively, because it was more guitar driven IMO. Ultimately, the guy is a wiz on the guitar, I've seen the band live multiple times. His style is very unique but connective to the audience, why describe the root sound as something so alien and unimportant i'll never understand. Billy's guitar plang is right up there with the best of them. He should be showcasing it god damn it. This is why i wasn't a huge fan of monuments. No solos to speak of very few guitar driven songs. I'm hopful the next album will be quite the opposite, one can only hope.
