oh i quite like it but i agree that it's nothing spectacular really - i find them more interesting when they're not playing songs, which is a shame becuase i really liked at rear house by them

i've been busy and not home much

have we talked about vampire weekend yet? this is probably totally out of character for me but i enjoy most of what's on this album. it's like fela kuti meets the shins meets talking heads meets wolf parade

im listening to alot of heavy rock music at the moment, yeah.

that Bon Iver record is pretty decent, as is the new Black Keys.

2008 has been pretty uneventful so far IMO. Lets see...

robert martin - 'long goodbye'
experimental aircraft - 'third transgression'
daniel menche - 'body melt'
folk spectre - 'blackest medicine'
drag the river - 'you cant live this way'

thats about it, so far.

i'm not talking about folk / acoustic kind of stuff. do you like rock music that isn't heavy? do you like talking heads? any new wave?

sometimes it seems like the only music you like that could definitely be identified as rock is all heavy down tuned riffs, 60s/70s psych influence and guitar solos. a nebula avatar certainly doesn't help.

ok. i forgot you liked my morning jacket. check out early 80s post punk / new wave dance music like pylon or the very first r.e.m. albums. definitely one of my favourite kinds of music and the reason i can enjoy things like vampire weekend.

i don't mean all post punk obviously. only the stuff that later grew into new wave when it became dancier and poppier. stuff like the feelies.

don't take all this too seriously i just thought most guitar/bass/drums bands that don't play slow and heavy would annoy you. i was mistaken.

good night.

I was crazy about the Blue CD-R last year and I kinda played it to hell and back. I hear the actual album is mostly a re-recording of the songs on that so I haven't listened to it yet, I want to give it some time so I can listen again with some fresher ears.

i've listened to 63 albums that were released this year now and almost all of them are mediocre

what is wrong man? the xiu xiu one is the only one that's actually consistent and kind of interesting

Shelby Lynne - Just a Little Lovin'

i have a lot more listed but this is all from this year i would seriously recommend to most people so far, the rest gets a bit more suspect in quality

well, anything after in flight radio gets murky. i have to update it as the year goes on.

but, no, fuck buttons are going to be towards the bottom of it regardless - it's ok... i mean, better than just "ok", but not great

I think this stuff is pretty good, but certainly nothing monumental yet:

Samamidon - All Is Well
Beach House - Devotions
Carl Craig - Sessions
Justus Kohncke - Safe and Sound
AZ - Undeniable
Xiu Xiu - Women as Lovers
Thee Oh Sees - The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In
Pete Rock - NY's Finest

I almost put Sian Alice Group on too, but it's really not even close to as interesting as I would like to be.
