Well, it's a Rolling Stone review. I don't really trust reviews anymore, especially the big media. Spin and Rolling Stone both gave the newest Metallica album great reviews, which thrilled me as a Metallica fan--until I heard the CD for myself. I don't know much about the industry, but I'm pretty sure it's a money thing.
This isn't to say I'm not excited about Hail to the Thief. I intend to buy it the day it's released. I'm just commenting on the media in general, and how they'll say anything that will sell magazines. |

Mainstream magazines have notoriously star-driven, money-driven taste in music. The cutting edge for Rolling Stone is The Rising--it's all banal idol worship twinged with a populist streak, which means albums that are a bit more experimental often get the shaft at the expense of sugarcoated, easy-to-handle stuff that is instantly forgettable. For the average pop fan, the reviews work well; if you want to dig deeper, you can pretty much forget about anything they have to say. |

radiohead is like the only mainstream band pitchfork creams itself over.
that being said they will not like HTTT because radiohead are far too popular now. |

i hope brian decrazenizcioooncizoniczio reviews it so it gets an unjustly high score.
that being said, i'd still give it a 9.0 |
