take me to church is a great song but the album has a lot of other great material on it that i like better

really been digging cherry wine and in the woods somewhere

and fuzzy it is demonstrably false that it's all in 4/4, in major keys. in fact i'd bet the majority of songs are not in 4/4. you may not like them but the song structures are definitely complex. then again you seemed to only have heard one song, probably the most straightfoward one on the album, and have proceeded to come up with you own narrative about what the album must sound like. seems legit. i mean i have no problem with you not liking it, it's just hard to watch you come up with ridiculous reasons why it's terrible generic shit. just stick to saying you don't like it instead of making yourself look like an idiot would you

Well if you like it that's great, but I can't shake the mom-rock vibes from the group.

"Take me to church"? gimme a break, all the middle class American masses gotta be eating that up with a spoon.

mom rock, gendered insults, condescending to the masses hyocritically merely in an attempt to save gace by being broke down about his tenuous grasp on music theory

sas sad stuff

Does anyone even like Hozier here outside of Reprise?

If so, I bet you guys are big Sam Smith fans too

see, sam smith is sorta pleasant to listen to but he doesn't have the depth or songwriting ability like hozier has and his voice is sort of contrived. i mean you're comparing pop/soul to a bad ass blues/soul/gospel/rock band with an inventive songwriter with not only a good voice, but a very unique one.

IMO

exactly, but he heard one song and has been told about 10 times by now that it's not "mom-rock".

I will now start introducing fuzzy to more Hozier tracks - via youtube - in one of your many threads, maybe then you can stop trolling in this one, it's annoying.

been listening to foreigner's god and cherry wine a lot

Her eyes and words are so icy
Oh but she burns
Like rum on the fire
Hot and fast and angry
As she can be
I walk my days on a wire

It looks ugly, but it's clean
Oh mama, don't fuss over me

The way she tells me I'm hers and she is mine
Open hand or closed fist would be fine
The blood is rare and sweet as cherry wine

I've listened to the whole Hozier album, and it was quite the exercise in futility... It's a grind to get through and it was all very bland...

But you know it's inoffensive, safe, pleasant music... The stuff that the masses go ballistic for.

I actually take pride in my guitar playing, and I'm quite certain I'm a far better guitarist than whoever this Hozier guy actually is.

actually pave, I've listened to the whole album.

I'm not gonna spout out music critique unless I've gave the whole body of work a chance.

dude you listen to nothing but the most inoffensive safe music. You only like music that has a big hook in the chorus. Anything structurally unusual, dissonant, or challenging you dismiss as hipster bullshit.

Like I really don't know where you get this idea that you're a unique, sophisticated auteur in a world full of of mindless sheep who enjoy what they're told to enjoy. You listen exclusively to bands that are or were extremely popular at one point or another.

there you go throwing around personal insults while we're discussing a certain artist... I should have come to expect these childish tactics from you at this point though.

no no, it was actually a direct refutation of your assertion that we're all just gobbling up music "designed for the masses" unlike you, when in fact the exact opposite is the case and I can prove it.

What the hell do you think Hozier is man?

Safe, bland music created and marketed for the masses

Hozier is an Irish singer who basically was songwriting as a hobby and got picked up because of great luck and overwhelming talent. He was not a contrived band/singer, he writes all of his own material, and it is not bland. You may not like it but it is complex music that has depth of lyrics and emotion. Good god man.
