i mean how do you get the population of a whole country to kill themselves for no apparent reason? you can put your money right NOW on aliens / weapons of mass mind control / some badass hallucinogenic drugs in the air that make everyone go crazy. and all those explanations are lame.

Once you know the whole plant thing, it kind of ruins it, but it would have been an ok twist had he done it like 2-4 years after 9/11. I think most people would be thinking, "ohh shit it must be terrorism or some kind of poison released to combat it that backfired" or something like that and then BAM, you find out it's nature herself, sick to death of our molestation of her body, murdering us one by one.

you're better off going into M.Night movies knowing absolutely nothing... Six Sense is 100x better if you don't know he sees dead people before you see the movie, but of course they hammered that fact home in all the promo/trailers. I mean... you don't really know what the deal is until the kid tells bruce willis.

yeah, i agree, if people didn't leak the twists to his movies i'd probably like them a little better. i've known the ending to every movie since signs and coincidentally, they've all "sucked" so to speak. sometimes i do wonder if it's not so much he's making shittier movies as it is the fact that we're not on the edge of our seats anymore because we know whats going to happen/something twisty till happen. I think if he made a movie and right at the end there's no twist, it would be more shocking than if he made a hundred more movies with "oh snap" endings.

Guys, there is no "twist" to this movie. People start dying, other people try to figure out why, the first answer they come up with is it's plants. This happens pretty early in the movie. The ads make it sound like it's a mystery that leads up to a big surprise ending, but it isn't. I'd guess by the end of the first act they've got it figured out. Shyalaman abandoned twist endings after "The Village."
