i think i'm going to purchase an EHX B9

after years of never finding a pitch shifter, octaver, envelope filter, harmonic generator, etc that i was satisfied with i think this may be the answer for me

I'd have thought Mccartney would have been the type to actually write songs on bass.

I guess i'm a poor traditional bassist, i find good basslines if i write it first before everything else. If i write it after, i'm generally bound to do really boring typical shit and then i generally end up scrapping the songs. And i don't like what i come up with on guitar if i start with that.

It's probably because i learned to play by myself and for at least like the first 4 years without the context of a band so i was always writing basslines without anything else. I never learned to play bass in a supporting role. Well i mean i've done it but i don't think i'm very good at it. Not that my lines are lead type basslines. they fll somewhere between support and well i dont want to say lead....ut something like that. they tend to have their own melody.

wow, i've never even seen that before

just watched the ehx video for it on their site, sounds pretty damn amazing as well

in any case, a rough mix of a song that's goin on an ep we're finally going to be able to finish, after finally getting the required stems and whatnot we'd recorded at someone's studio this summer... been a completely overdrawn process for the most part but at least we're able to get it done now

already realize there's "too much bass" and whatnot but any other criticisms/suggestions on or for the actual mix as it is so far are appreciated

timefactor i've heard nothing but great things though

edit: oh wait that's a SPACE idk much about that one - i tell you this though - i'm terrible with multi-fx and save patterns and such. love to twist knobs.

the c9 came today. holla. i've always like the HOG and HOG2 but those things are just way too big for a floor board. to me they seem more like a tabletop device.

I tried the B9 today, it was alright. It seemed more like obvious presets from a POG and some modulation pedal combined. Some of the sounds were really convincing, some were not. I'll probably stick with what I use, but it's fun at least.

The c9 improved on all that imo. For a compact pedal though I think it beats out the micro pog for sure.

Well I guess I am more interesting in something that doesn't sound quite right or is imperfect rather than something striving to get that specific sound. IN trying to get some sort of sound--and then failing--you find something new. knowhatimean?

I feel you. For me, when I played pogss or whatever I eventually realized I was really only looking for string or organ/keyboard sounds with high octave abilities.

So this is essentially what I always wanted. Loving the mellotron flute sound.

Hey guys, just whipped together a new demo for my new band. The only vocals on the demo are during the chorus. It's a totally rough cut and everythings going to be redone... But what do you think so far?

Heres a demo I've been hoarding for awhile... I'm thinking of making a track based on these riffs... What do you guys think?

from what i understand, the B9 is pretty much all tonewheel/drawbar organ sounds. The drawbars on an organ do the same things that the sliders on a HOG or POG do.

now, the C9 takes the best drawbar/tonewheel sounds of the B9 while adding 5 or so new totally different sounds (like mellotron and some 60s compact organ sounds, an ambient brian eno inspired shimmering thing, and another precursor to the early analog synth). one setting lets you dial in up to an octave below or a fifth above what you're playing.

anyway, i'm heavily medicated right now but this pedal is super fun. plays great with other effects as well. a little or a lot of delay. vibrato. slow phasing. any amount of fuzz. etc. i think this just replaced my chorus pedal.

Thanks man.

Just checking out your stuff right now. Hide sounds dope man. I like the vocals, guys got good pitch. Sorta gives off a bit of a Tripping Daisy vibe.

havent heard of that band in a long time. It was totally weird how they reached nearly beatlemania level here in Quebec. Well not quite ok but yeah for like a second they were stupidly huge here. I remember musiqueplus gave them a special when they came and like there were screaming girls asking for autographs....it was like being big in japan.

It was actually the singer, the bassist and their original drummer, so pretty much the core of Tripping Daisy turned into the Polyphonic Spree.

Check out their last album Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb, which was a complete commercial failure and got them dropped from their label. It is fucking great.

Listening to this now... This is really good!

Kinda reminds me more of Dr Dog than Tripping Daisy.
