Adore reissue is one of my favorite Pumpkins possessions of all time, tbh, so I had reason to be hopeful for the M ones

f'real though the majority of the fan tracklistings just kind of baffle me, most of them are just kind of a colorless mix-up of their favorite songs from the era with no real flow or purpose. However there have been a few that do work better than the actual released product, but then again who knows what they would have put out if given the thumbs-up for the double album Bill had wanted to make in the first place

The only thing I know for sure about my own ideal Machina record would be the version of BSBT that would go on it

2 good

The 2-disc one called "Glass and The Ghost Machine" is pretty good tho, and I know I've seen a couple on here that put in what looked like some serious work into constructing whatever plot they'd put out there while also managing a sort of musical flow/thematic continuity but I haven't quite listened to all of them

Edit: as soon as I went to fetch a link for GATMOG, i look in the notes file I had for it and the credit was to soniclovenoize. so, well, thanks guy!

Listening to GATMOG right now, & truth be told, Innosense has gotta be a top 5 most underrated SP track for me. I never, ever hear people talking about it and it's rarely included in the fan-made compilations, but it's one of the most fragile & sincere things he put out in this period, along with "With Every Light" and maybe a couple others

Is it just too "on the nose" to end with This Time and the "bid you all goodnight" line?

No more on the nose than ending a 2-hr album with "Farewell & Goodnight"

"La Deux Machina (Mike Garson Version)" legit looks like a title someone on here would put on a mock-reissue tracklisting

I know, pretty amazing, I surprise myself

I'm going to reconsider everything I've ever said about the machina era

Can Machina be better? Oh yes, most definitely.

With Machina, less is more.

I made a slightly more electronic-based 17 track Adore tracklist that I quite enjoy that mostly keeps the original order with other tracks in certain places.

01 To Sheila
02 Ava Adore
03 Eye (taken from Rarities & B-Sides)
04 Perfect
05 Daphne Descends
06 Saturnine (taken from Rarities & B-Sides)
07 Tear
08 Crestfallen
09 Waiting (taken from Rarities & B-Sides)
10 Appels + Oranjes
11 Pug
12 Shame
13 Behold! The Night Mare
14 For Martha
15 Blank Page
16 Blissed And Gone (taken from Rarities & B-Sides)
17 17

I'm sure it could've been better but if you consider it to be a bad record I don't think there's any combination of songs that would've made it a good record.

If they'd recorded Glass Theme, Dross, Cash Car Star or whatever for Machina 1 they'd most likely have been slow, weird sounding versions because the band seemingly wanted a slow, weird sounding record.

just listened to judas ř again

listening to 17 for the first time in 1998 and blissed and gone for the first time in 2001, it seems as though a lifetime happened in between
