If it’s like Silvery, Solara, With Sympathy... yes.

If it’s like Knights of Malta and the rest. Hard pass.

The one thing that gives me real interest is that Shiny vol. 1 was just them fucking around and seeing if they could play together over a few tossed-together tracks and Day for Night leftovers, whereas vol. 2 is supposed to be "We sat down, hashed things out and recorded the way we used to".

Bill does have a magical way of stringing folk along after multiple shitty releases, it's true

I think it's going to be good.

Probably in a cynical "back to their roots" kinda way, but still.. WPC has said a few things about "big moments", vocal direction & production, general direction, the planned+cancelled/postponed tour that was going to be more rocking/aggressive, etc that indicate that they're at least putting in some effort and making a bit of a late career crowd pleaser.

I strongly believe SP is going to be retired after the final Shiny record (or maybe 1 final record after Shiny is finished) and the reunion+Shiny is a short-term thing to rescue the bands reputation+legacy. He's going to pull out what passes as his A game for this one.

Mostly I'm curious about the whole "Shiny and oh so bright" "concept", that's apparently going "make sense" once we hear V2. The Shiny tour was really well done and they obviously put a lot of work into it but it was a still a greatest hits tour. Shiny V1 was just a cobbled together collection of leftovers with no "overarching concept", WPCs been very open about that.

A very weird way of kicking off a 3+ album, years long thing.

WPCs a bit of a flake but I need to believe there really is something behind this as so far it's makes the "Teargarden and the various albums within albums...honest" concept seem well thought out. I don't think he'd make that mistake twice. Unless he's completely doolally and thinks Teargarden was a massive success and went completely to plan.

Billy has talked about retiring the band after a few more albums, but it wouldn't be now.

The band 'retired' 20 years ago

if you're waiting after almost close to a quarter century for bill to write and record a good song you have bigger problems in your life.

Clock’s ticking. Jimmy, James and Jack aren’t going to stick around forever.

Glad to see some well-deserved acknowledgment of my main man, Master Bates.

How's Larry, your brother-in-law, doing these days?

Wow...when you look at a picture of Byrne when he left the band versus this, it looks like he aged 15 years. Amazing what working with Billy does to the human body.

Bill's done plenty of good songs post Machina, they're just scattered over mediocre albums.

If anyone truly believes the band hasn't done anything good in a quarter century and they are still here discussing them, shitposting or otherwise, I'd call those some of the aforementioned bigger problems, honestly

I made my own "Best Of" post-Machinas SP album that ain't bad. There's enough there for maybe a 12-14 track decent album. It's still not better than what's become before it, but tolerable.
