Fuck yeah, I had my first drug experience during a Lagwagon gig at a festival. I didn't know they were still around.

Yep, Bizarre Festival 98...

They're bringing a bunch of veterans (Lagwagon, Pulley, Strung Out) together for the 25 year anniversary of Pennywise.
I expect to feel kind of old tonight, but at least I'm not going to age with grace!

April 24th - Liberty Hall - Lawrence, KS

I can't even deal with how excited I am. Like... we just saw Jeff Mangum at the same venue and it's small and will definitely be sold out and it's going to be fucking epic. I missed them when they came to KC in '11 and I'm still kicking myself because I love their first two albums so much. This tour is going to be a new album but hopefully still good OH GOD NO ONE CARES.

Saw Mangum in '12 in Wisconsin at a pretty big venue and it was legit. Saw him a few days ago in a small venue and it was a shorter set but I thought it was better - probably because we were really close.

I'm hell of excited for some upcoming shows with bands no one here gives a shit about.

Tonight - Middle of the Map Fest, Night 2
So proud of KC for throwing this together the last couple of years. They took most of the venues in Midtown KC and made a three day festival with 2/3 local bands and 1/3 national acts. Tonight I'm catching Joy Formidable, locals Latenight Callers, Guards, Deerhoof, and Kitten.

4/6 - MotMF Night 3
Local acts Capsules, Beautiful Bodies, and Antennas Up plus Tennis and The Whigs.

4/6 - Orgy @ Aftershock in Mission, KS
There's a three hour break between the last two bands of MotMF so I'm driving out to Mission, Kansas to see them play a bar and grill called Aftershock. Lol, technically a free ticket.

4/9 - Wicken, Pyridial, and Severed Path @ Riot Room in KCMO
My brother promotes local metal acts nowadays so I'm helping out by showing up. I think it might be free too, I'm not sure.

4/24 - Airborne Toxic Eveeeeent @ Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS
So fucking essited.

4/26 - Fítz and the Tantrums & Lemonheads @ Midland Theater in KCMO
Free show. Local alt radio has a "prom" every year wherein everyone dresses up and fucks off. My friend Roland gets a limo every year and this will be my first prom show.

4/30 - Fleetwood Mac @ Sprint Center in KCMO
Going with Bre. She rarely goes to shows anymore. One time I took her to see A Place to Bury Strangers so maybe that's what turned her off.

5/3 - Crystal Castles & HEALTH @ Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS
Stil iffy about this. Gotta work in the AM and I may just go to a Royals game for the same amount if money and less drive time.

5/21 - Of Monsters and Men @ Crossroads in KCMO
Sold the fuck out last week. This will be my second time seeing them. Second show at this venue; didn't like the wood chip flooring but it's a nice venue for outdoors.

5/22 - ANDREW WK @ Firebird in St Louis
Just found out about this, not gonna miss him this time. Fuckkk yes.

5/25 - Cheap Trick @ Voodoo Lounge in KCMO
Kinda just want to see them before they are dead/stop playing. I don't have a strong opinion about them either way but I bet it'll be fun.

5/29 - A Place to Bury Strangers & JAPANDROIDS @ Granada in Lawrence, KS
Thanks to FB's fuckery I just about missed the announcement for this. Bought tix last night ASAP; it's gonna be the tits.

Joy Formidable tonight. Probably the last time I'll ever be at the 930 Club. Kinda sad, it's a cool venue.

The Middle of the Map Fest was a blast. The fact that it's all located in the same area of town and everyone is there to see a lot of local bands (as well as famous ones) really gives it a
sense of community and fun. If you know who they are, you can kick it with local bands and such; just a lot of fun.
My friends and I went over to see the Kitten set which was in the basement of one of the bars and, apparently, my friend was there way before the show. He didn't know what the band looked like so he was just shooting the shit with them and buying the lead singer drinks. Well, he didn't know she was so young and had such a low tolerance and she proceeded to shamble through three "songs", crowd surfing and kicking shoestring lightson the roof and the drummer just said "fuck it" and quit after the fourth "song". It was hilarious.

Also, the Orgy show went entirely too long cuz they had like5,000 openers. So I missed Tennis and Whigs but its ok cuz I've seen both before.

Neutral Milk Hotel just announced more dates so I'm hitting up their Columbia, MO, show.

Also, Desaparecidos are playing Lawrence in October as well. Fuck me, I'm dying with happiness.

Not at this point. Couldn't find anybody who wanted to go before they went on sale so I didn't buy any. Might Stubhub it closer to the show.
