It doesn't bother me that he's changed his mind, I'm glad, but he should have taken the Eagles/GNR route and named the tour after one of his soundbites. Eagles had Hell Freezes Over, GNR had Not In This Lifetime, Billy could have had the Dead As An Artist or One More Round At The Till tour.

don't be such a fucking crybaby, fuzzy.
nobody's making you go see them on this tour.
and if you can't afford it, just accept it. you don't need to come up with a three page explanation why you might not want to see them as much as you do.
or why don't you simply do some more number crunching on the vegas lines? money in the bank, fellas. clowns in my shower, chicken in my heart!

I agree totally, but would've been more or less happy with this tour if were a true reunion with D'arcy involved. At least playing the oldies would have made more sense? I don't know. Part of me thinks they priced the tickets with this in mind, at least her having a bit part. The rates would still be wonky but I know I'd pay anyway. As it stands they don't compute.

Also this, Billy responds to getting the band back together at 4:47: https://youtu.be/mWWrFuF0A8k?t=4m47s

D'arcy is Billy's ace card. He's saving her for another tour, after the reunion tour, called the true reunion tour, with seats priced at 50000 dollars.

Billy needs to do one of two things, preferably both but I'm being realistic, to eek his way back into the mainstream.

1. Record new music that can stand alongside the 1988-2000 run. At this point, no one expects him to write and record music as special as Siamese Dream, but the band needs an entire LP or EP of songs that can at least sit next to the old songs without being a complete embarrassment. Between Zeitgeist, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Oceania, and Monuments to an Elegy, we might have five to seven songs that sound like a continuation of the band's original run. Five to seven songs...in ten years. At this point, I think the reaction to Monuments even got Billy to acknowledge his output was not worthy of the band name. Perhaps having Iha back in the fold will result in songs with a better Smashing Pumpkins vibe, but given Corgan's track record since 2007, we should assume the new songs will be more of the same. If the new songs knock it out of the park, well then that constitutes a pleasant surprise.

2. Play the oldies and nothing else.

I'm not so upset that he went back on what he said. I'm more upset about WHY. I bought tickets but I can't help the feeling that I'm just paying to revive a dead wrestling league.

I asked myself what D'arcy would sound like live, and listened to 3 Arising shows. I didn't like what I heard.
The Geek USA breakdown is like a "shreds" video

In 1999, did the deveel take back her ability to play better than my grandma?

"I mean, the cat just couldn't groove. And when two cats can't groove to the same tune..." -Sammy Davis Jr?

If he plays new music he's playing shit nobody cares about, etc.

If he plays old music he's a hypocrite etc.

Don't care. I'm fine with it. Rather see him playing the stuff from the good days.

If you listen to the rest of the show, you can hear her complain about having issues hearing her bass and getting excessive feedback...

Lol, the funny thing is #1 wouldn't seem that hard for someone as talented as Billy but he's built up such bad will it doesn't seem possible. I can think of other guys who have pulled it together - NIN's last EP, David Bowie's last album obviously. The music just needs to be simpler in a way and guitar driven. And he needs to stop making his voice the focus. Billy's strength is his songwriting and was at one point his guitar sound. That's why I thought Ogilala was pretty lifeless, not what most people want to hear from him.
