Hadn't heard that one before. No doubting Mary Star of the Sea (like Machina) could have been a properly great album if the right song choices had been made. They were unbelievably prolific for a band that were only together a short amount of time.

I have no idea what was going through Corgan's mind picking songs for MSTOS

He had a quality album just from that first Zwan show in 2001 that was probably better than Machina

Yeah I think he's just got shit taste. Isn't it accepted wisdom that that was D'Arcys biggest contribution to the band? Also I think a lot of the weaker tracks he includes on albums are the most recently written, and like a lot of songwriters he always thinks his newest songs are the best. Problem is for Machina, MSTOS and Zeitgeist, he got it totally ass backwards.

I'm okay with MSOTS but I feel like Machina I would have been so much better (and much more successful) had he included more of the Machina II stuff on the album. Songs like Blue Skies Bring Tears (Heavy), Speed Kills and Glass' Theme were a million times better than shit like The Impotent Voice, Heavy Metal Machine and The Crapping Tree of Mercury.

My favorite Zwan song along with Glorious. Yeah, song choices have been weird....Gossamer is just one of many missed opportunities.
