Great ending. Everything after BTO was top notch. Really like the 4 piece. Very raw basic sound.
I've got nothing against Samurai Mike. Cool dude and a good drummer. |

i like how you're such an expert on matt walker's drumming you notice a discernable difference between two consecutive years and are able to insert mike byrne inbetween them

lol at Matt Walker 97 vs. 96. You should have seen him in high school marching band. Matt Walker 86 > Jimmy. |

i'll take a free show like that every month or so.
definitely appreciated it. like it's been said, fans complained in 93, and they really complained with matt walker '96 & '97, c'mon. the complaining is pretty embarrassing at this point I think |

At least it's consistent. The same 20 or so dudes have been bitching on this message board for what 12 years? It's some good entertainment when boredom sets in. |

comparing the band in 96/97 to the band now is absolutely ridiculous

couldnt agree more. i started off really skeptical about Mike BAM BAM Byrne, but he has grown on me, and the new Samurai Mike persona is pretty funny lol, I dig it. I listen to the Forecastle boot alot, I actually have no problem with Mike's drumming. I think he is pretty damn rocking on US and on Gossamer, I think the more we get into the new tunes, the more he will shine. I think his drumming on Freak is perfectly fine.

i don't remember too much complaining going on in the 96-97 days. in fact i don't remember too much complaining happening until machina was released.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that the 1997 shows are as a rule head and shoulders above the late 1996 shows. The band as a live unit was on a roll in early to mid 1996 until the Melvoin incident, and it really didn't pick up again until sometime in early 1997. If it wasn't Walker's drumming that got significantly better over that short time, then what was it? Once Walker stopped trying to mechanically recreate Jimmy's parts and loosened up a bit, the band got awesome again.

i went to the concert last night... it was very good... crowd was really into all the songs ... United States was incredible, ripped the roof off ... last time i saw billy was the future embrace tour ... we should be glad he's still out there ... the new stuff sounds better live.

I enjoy the 98 shows with Arnoff for a change of pace periodically.

Did anybody record the show. Would like to download it instead of watching it on YouTube one clip at a time.

Oh, God. I might have to eat my recent statement that I hate Mike Byrne... just watched As Rome Burns from this show...
God damn it was really good. Even the drumming. |

I do. I remember dialing up and waiting for siva to load and the first 10 threads were all bashes on Matt Walker or the setlist not having enough gish. Next year when I finally got a 56k modem everyone was bitching about Adore.
