Default Guitar effect demo's with Pumpkin songs:

Andy from PGS is the best at this stuff among many cool ones (Including a not-so-secret youtube channel from Jack Black). It's one thing to be a great player of any genre, it's on another level altogether to do it exclusively without a pick.

I hate trying to find pedal demos but everyone's playing metal wank or blues wank

cool Ram, I would hope there's some gear geeks left around here. And I hear ya about the demo's. Andy from PGS has a fan base going on his own now, he's that good. He pulls out a bunch of QOTSA on his Fuzz reviews.

This next guy has a mellow british thing going on. Not sure he nailed the Gish/SD era chorus sound (did Billy and Butch Vig even use chorus?), but it's kinda nice anyway. He certainly has that familiar vibe of a lot of Pumpkins fans I remember.

i was never particularly impressed with Andy's playing, tbqh. always seemed a bit too tame and robotic to me. but his Tristessa version is badass, no two ways of going about it.

Joel from Chicago Music Exchange (which warmed many a night for me mentally masturbating over 60,000$ guitar demos) plays pumpkins sometimes. he did Luna, i remember, and probably some other ones. he's by far the best demo guitar player on the web that i'd seen. really musical and flowing with emotion. someone i listen to for inspiration. unfortunately, his band kinda sucks though.

Sure, there's some guys who I think are better players than Andy from PGS, easily Rabea Massaad to name one. But in terms of overall production value, no b.s get to the point-of-the-pedal and putting on display what it can actually do with only great covers (not jamming/jerking around), he's the tops in my book.

kinda silly to judge someones playing based off of you tube pedal demos but hey thats the internet for you.

gotta say that andy guys voice has always been creepy to me.. but as many pedal demo vids as i've watched I've never seen a single pumpkins riff played, so this is pretty cool.

are there more out there that i'm missing?

Kinda silly to judge the judgement if you haven't seen a few hundred of his demo's.

Check out Rabea Massaad, he's a pro who does demo's. You can actually appreciate his skill better on some of his demo's than the work he does in his band/projects.

His voice creeps you out..right. Just be glad he isn't singing I guess.

Here's the chicago guys showcasing this 6 in 1 big muff fuzz. Pumpkin song at 2:15 and they mention Billy and do another song at 3:50.

Nothing annoys me than the "right-hand-fan" motion, where they just can't strum the guitar normally. They have to strum in that stupid circular pattern with a wanky wrist motion because it's an expression of whatever blah blah blah.

Some nerd is going to tell me why that's more efficient or sounds better, I'm sure.

If this has been posted around here before, I missed it. Saw this a while back -- we should all have the means to fly someone in from Czechoslovakia and clone our amps into rackmounted rigs.

you really don't sound like someone who's actually interested in other opinions, but i think his picking technique is great, and it's a big part of what makes him an awesome guitar player. i actually picked that up from him and if you use it right, yes, it can make you sound better sometimes. it's all about context. strumming at different places across the strings enables you to get different sounds - more planky and trebly closer to the bridge, warmer and fatter closer to the neck. it's more expressive and varied if you look at the guitar as an acoustic instrument, and most guys don't realize the same goes for electric.

That guy sucks at Demoing and I didn't hear any Pumpkin songs, but thanks for playing. Cool pedal though...

Billy wants to create the only acoustic suitable for a live performance and no one wants to team up with him.

guitar effect demo videos always sound like fucking shit and the guitar tones are a million miles away from what the stuff actually sounds like. basically usually 100% always.

Get it used. There's no point in buying a new pedal. Pedals always depreciate in value.
