The most exciting thing so far is that the booklet contains lyrics. Score! Finally know for sure what he was singing in Soothe and Frail and Bedazzled.

Any chance of a few nice pics of the box and contents at least please? Or a bonus disc rip if you're feeling kind!

By the way, the tape artwork is used on the back of the vinyl reissue. Must say I quite like the "reimagining" of the cover art this time. Much more subtle and true to the original covers than Gish and Siamese.

I haven't ripped the bonus disc yet; only the main disc. Going to dinner in a bit and will leave that disc ripping. Also going to try and transfer the tape.

One noticeable thing so far: Plume is different than the previous album version.

It's not on What.CD... yet.

However, is it possible for anyone to do a proper Exact Audio Copy FLAC rip? If you need to know how to set up EAC use this tutorial that has pictures.

Fully, fully agree on this one. Can't handle the bastardization of the color scheme, but altering the texture works great in this scenario.

Here's to hoping for a non-neon colored MCIS...

I haven't gotten any notification of mine being shipped yet. Bummer.

Speaking of the PI reissue cover, any high res (or 600x600 and above) scans and/or pictures of the cover of the box yet? I'll need one for my digital copy once I have one.

you know, I have been back and forth about the Soothe lyrics since 1994 when i would listen to this album like 5 times a day. I always hoped it was "hold me again," but through the years i have come to terms with the fact that its "hungry again." Oh well. Still a stellar song.

As for Soothe, it's "hungry, hungry again".

Different as in dramatic sound quality-wise? Or absolutely a different take/version?

Musically, it's a lot more crunchy and bright sounding. And it's a totally different vocal take. At both points he says, "i don't care or give a fuck".

Is this worth getting? Are there new track-by-track notes by Billy or the same notes that appeared in the original release?

What's up with the black and white photographs that come with it? At least the other ones in the Gish and Siamese Dream boxsets are artwork pictures from the album or photos of the band. I don't get how those postcards relate to the album or the band.

It's interesting how the liner notes in the Gish and Siamese Dream reissues are just as obnoxious and trying-too-hard-to-be-poetic as the ones in the original version of PI were. I just want Billy to tell me about the god damn tracks.

Not complaining about the photographs. I think they look nice. I just don't get it. It's like him trying-too-hard-to-be-poetic using photographs.

I take it that nothing in the track-by-track reveals anything new or noteworthy?

I was in the same boat as everyone else in thinking that we already have all this stuff. I've been pleasantly surprised though. There is much more clarity in the bonus tracks than what we have heard thus far. I would definitely suggest buying it.

The track-by-track notes are new and dated "billy corgan february 21, 2012". Here's the notes about Blew Away as an example: a tune that perfectly captures the james iha i met in 1987, long before he too was swallowed under the great big wave of an assumed success. i will say had little to do with this song beyond arranging it, being gratefully left out of the recording process for once. starry-eyed and countrified, this is a strong effort for a lazy eye.
