Gozilla: Final Wars - 5/10
Overlong Kaiju porn that should've been more entertaining than it was. Their first mistake was creating a generic alien invasion plot to serve as the backdrop. Their second mistake was thinking anyone cared about that or anything not having to do with Godzilla beating the shit out of other dudes in costumes. I suppose it's worth it just to see "authentic" Godzilla kick 1998 Godzilla's ass, but this thing could've been 70 minutes long and would've been all the better for it. |

Second viewing of Last Jedi affirmed my enjoyment of it. It’s a very well put together film

Ouija: Origin of Evil - 3/5
I thought this movie was related to the other ouija series but it's not, despite both having ouija in the title. This is very confusing. Anywaaay, I loved the aesthetic of having a bit of a retro style and using "cigarrete burns" for transitions and film scratches here and there. There are some really creepy moments (when the movie doesn't go for jump scares it is REALLY effective). Unfortunately the story is a let down and stops being interesting when the nature of the ghost is revealed and then it just becomes a snooze to the end. |

Deep Red - 8/10
Engaging, sometimes plodding Hitchcock-esque giallo classic. One of the few Argento flicks that has something resembling narrative cohesiveness, and its double-ending is surprising in that the big reveal actually feels like a surprise. Any film that features beheading by way of pearl necklace is OK in my book. |

Gerald's Game 6/10
Can't blame a movie for being as bad as the book, after all. 1 extra point for the hand scene. It was actually less anti-climactic than the book. I think fewer flashbacks and hallucinations helped maybe. |

"Boy Meets Girl"
story about a trans girl living in a small southern town with a cis male best friend. things get interesting when she starts hanging out with rich straight girl. Love triangle ensues. Low budget indy film. It's a simplistic story with a trans female actress. It's designed to present a positive trans story to straight people. It's something that I'd want my mother to watch. There's one scene with brief full nudity. Predictable ending. Also i was kind of crushing on the lead. She's my type. I give it 6 out of 10 stars. I think i've rated this movie in here once before. Broken Arrow - 8/10
How have I not seen this before? As far as Woo flicks go, I'm still partial to Face/Off, but this was a butt-ton of fun. |

Two Evil Eyes - 7/10
Two-part anthology based on a pair of Poe stories, directed by George A. Romero and Dario Argento. Both directors' careers were cooling off by this point, and it shows. Both segments are over-long, but contain some really creepy atmosphere, solid gore effects and some prime scenery chewing by Harvey Keitel. |

1. I usually just post in here about good films that I want to promote 2. I don't have time to watch anything shitty, so I carefully vet what I spend my precious time watching. If something is sucking, I usually won't finish it. 3. Regarding the A for shape of water, most people I've talked to have loved it, and Del Toro just won the golden globe for best director for it. Like, not sure if I posted about Justice League, but that was a C at best, C- even. I only saw it out of obligation, being a DC comics fan. 2 pages ago I was talking about how Dark Knight rises didn't really do it for me. You post negatively about most things. |

I used to watch DC Comics adaptations out of obligation (that's why I went to see Batman v. Superman, I couldn't not watch a film with either character), but then I decided this behaviour was just rewarding bad products with characters I like and encouraging them to continue.
Now I'll see them if promotional materials and word-of-mouth actually give me a reasonable basis to believe they might not be terrible. |
