Default Gun Club: 9 Lives series, Live Box set?

Gun Club News 1

On November 14th, 2005, the first two editions of the new compilation
series: 9 Lives of the GUN CLUB will be released.

Launching the series will be re-releases of the debut solo-album of
Jeffrey Lee Pierce: Wildweed from 1985, and the Gun Club album Lucky
Jim from 1993. Both editions contain never before released material on
CD, while Lucky Jim also contains a bonus CD of previously unreleased
studio recordings and several over-the-top live performances.

9 LIVES is a project of the Dutch record company Flow Records in
collaboration with the Dutch agency Alternative: Willem Venema. Each
edition is part of a compilation series of 9 CDs of Jeffrey Lee Pierce
& the Gun Club, and will contain re-mastered and re-mixed versions of
recordings exclusive to these reissues. To most of the re-releases in
the series unique bonus material (studio, live – and outtakes) has
been added.

Once, in biting circumstances in 1996, while Jeffrey was recuperating
from Hepatitis C at his father's home in Utah, he suffered a brain
aneurysm, fell into a coma, and passed away shortly after at the age
of 37 in a Salt Lake City hospital.

The 9 editions (partly double CDs) are compiled by Gene Temesy from
New York, Jeffrey Lee Pierce's biographer and President of GUN CLUB
Fan club -- generally regarded as the major Pierce
specialist/connoisseur of the world.

Remixing and re-mastering has been done by Peer Rave (a.o. producer of
Henry Rollins and the albums Lucky Jim and Ramblin' Jeffrey Lee). Over
the next one and a half years, every three months a new re-release
will follow, in special packaging with liner notes, and pages of
unique photos. Also *******s material made available with the
permission of Jeffrey Lee Pierce's estate.

The conclusion of the series is to be released in Spring 2007. The
safe-deposit was filled with boxes of master tapes, including the
recordings of the last tour in Europe. There are also ongoing plans
to organize a tribute tour in Europe together with several musicians
(probably with the original band members) in Spring 2006.

(Please note: this is all pending as we are not sure if this has approval from the Estate!)
The Luck Jim 2CD set has been released and I ordered mine from http://www.redsunrecords.com/product...517c57c0f5f44d

Sure. In your case, I would strongly suggest getting Mother Juno and possibly Luck Jim. Mother Juno is the best example of Jeffrey's "surrealism and blues" description of the Gun Club.

Get it and you will lead a happier life.
