10 was just a liberal estimation. I maybe should've clarified that the loudest voices here have declared this mindset.

Look here, people rationalizing just now that Alienation isn't a stinking pile of excrement... I mean man, I was revisiting MSOTS over the past few days and maligned songs like "Declarations of Faith" literally sound like masterpieces in comparison.

What sucks is how formulaic Corgan has become.

I would say Declarations of Faith is more offensively bad than Alienation. Alienation is pretty middle of the road ehhhhhh just does nothing

One might think so, but listen again. Compared to what's come after, it actually sounds pretty damn good in comparison.

I really liked Zeitgeist when it came out too. I believed it was better than Machina

but time taught me that I just really wanted it to be a great album. I actually just listened to the complete tracklist Z last night with some people, and we all agreed that it was better than we remembered. A few real gems on there. And a few REAL stinkers as well.

Overall I don't think the ratio of good/bad songs on Zeitgeist is very different than the ratio of good/bad songs on Oceania or on Shiny. But I appreciate that Shiny is short, so it doesn't have a lot of time to get lost in its own bullshit like Z or O do. All of them have a decent amount of moments that really make you feel like, "this could be a great album, if only _______." But this album has 3/4 of the original band, and James Iha makes a fucking difference.

I will say that after listening to Zeitgeist, the drums are seriously lacking on every track on Shiny except Solara (which is so bad you almost forget the drums) and Marchin On

"There's a conceptual thing I'm after that I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do," says Corgan, who took one of the new album's songs, "Alienation," from a project called Day For Night that he was working on "when I gave up on being in the Smashing Pumpkins, right before James and I started talking again."

I think most of the songs are D4N outtakes. Travels has a lyric "see day from night".

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the takes were even recorded from the D4N sessions, but who the hell knows.

I bet he really did have a couple new songs and a backlog of leftovers from Day for Night, because he did just release Oligaga, which probably represented the majority of his more recent song writing. The sad thing about this is that it probably means he has slowed way down since having kids and will probably be releasing new material a lot less frequently. Not only that, but I have a feeling KoM is representative of where he's going as an artist, and that the rockers were probably the Day for Night leftovers. The "part 1" is probably just his usual optimism, a way of making a promise to himself that he will inevitably break. On the upside, he might focus more on reissues and those theatrical album performances he was talking about.

Alienation actually sounds kind of similar to One Diamond One Heart. Diamond is much worse though

First time since adore that the production hasn’t ruined a perfectly cromulent set of songs

I like it. Have only listened to previews of each song at iTunes because why would I buy it if I didn’t know I liked it

In days gone past I would have gone to the music store and listened to the album in full on headphones used by hundreds of other greasy haired people, and then spent weeks returning for repeat listens before deciding whether or not I wanted to buy it. Now I have to buy if I want to listen.

Still deciding. But the previews make it sound good.

Not sure about alienation

I listened again yesterday and I liked Alienation more. In fact, I got MCIS vibes from the first 30 or so seconds.

I can't imagine how awful it must feel to be violated. Then I hear that line, and I don't have to imagine.

Can anyone tell me who his monte or claytuckett?

Are the 2 billys buttholesurfers or have the given bolly a snowball?

It seems that billy only shows the positive insta posts. Heard that the sp facebook is overall negative about the album, right?

I have the impression that my standard of a good pumpkins songs has become so low that now i like songs like sympathy or marchin on the most.

I understand the haters. Dont blame the production or rubin or the master or strawtitssuckmyass. Blame billy for the mostly bad songs/ songwriting and choice of effects.
He is the one who says how its gonna be done.

I can live with the album but i have the impresdion that they dobt want to spend 2 months or 6 months in a studio to work or improve songs.

Tjey dont give a shit- so do I.

Vol2? Hahaha- same production, same style , same vocals, same metallic guitars-

Guys, my hope is gone that they could release a really great album again.
Moreover younger kids give a shit about the sp.

when i was in high school a christian friend of mine told me that the way he kept from whacking his waterlily was every time he felt the urge he thought of christ on the cross and that each spank of the spelunker was like driving a new nail in the flesh of the Lord.

true story.
