No one ever talks about this song and they should. They really should. Probably the best song he debuted during those 2007 Asheville shows. Also, obviously, the one he never revisits. That's some old school vintage 90's BC guitar chording as well.

Most of the residency songs were actually very good, but, you know... like Chicago Kid and Djali Zwan, we are not culturally prepared for them.

Yep, that's the one I always listened to.

I made a mix with those songs at the time, and that was the version I picked.

leaving lament was my favorite. of the bunch it's the one that has the worst recordings.

Psalm 131, The Leaving Lament, and the live versions of Translucent and Daydream are my favorite things from that era. I'd include the Rose March too, but I actually kind of dislike the song now - whenever I listen to the early live version I used to love, my brain plays the missing studio parts on top of it, and I hate it.

problem with 90% of what he's written since then is that it all sounds good stripped down and played acoustic. But once he's done forcing it into a full arrangement everything good about it is gone.

All of the older material sounds great no matter how it's played. Which is why Plainsong works so well for him, while opening for Manson falls flat
