the main audience for a 2015 Star Wars film are under 10 now? No, incorrect.

yeah these really are movies for people of all ages, and Disney would be stupid not to market these new ones the same way

The movies are for kids. they're written for kids. Theyre all rated PG. All the merch is for children.

The merch may be for children, but there are plenty of man-children in this world

One of them is PG-13

Something like Labyrinth is for kids, written for kids. Star Wars has a much larger audience and fanbase.

dude, there is so much lore after ROTJ it's gonna be impossible not to fuck a lot of it up... kind of an impossible situation. unless they neglect all of the characters from the OT

I mean for christ's sake, there is a Solo family tree on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anakin_Solo#Anakin_Solo . Somebody took a portion out of their life to write that. Lot's of pissed off nerds, can see it already

oh and magikarp all the way

I wondered in the first place, and this just makes me think again, that maybe he only has a few months to live and he's trying to square away his financial situation before he goes.
i.e. liquidate everything he can and simplify his paperwork so his family doesn't have to deal with it later.

Well what I read is that he has been trying to build a state-of-the-art studio on his property for decades, but his bourgeois dickhead neighbors keep battling the zoning nonsense. He finally said fuck it, not worth it, and decided to sell the land to a developer seeking to build much-needed low-income housing in the area. Seems like it was more to spite his rich, snobby neighbors than anything else.

that's the story I'm familiar with. Kind of redeems the shitty aspects of the prequels, for me personally, what with his philanthropy and pissing off a bunch of rich douchebags while helping the poor

I forget who, but someone here once said that George Lucas is like Billy Corgan in that they are both immensely talented individuals with very little taste.

Rings true.

Harrison Ford is open to the idea of bringing Han Solo back to life on the silver screen in 2015, according to sources close to the just-announced "Star Wars" sequel, but don't be surprised if his contract includes a mandatory death scene for the sly old space smuggler.

"Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it, all three of them are," said one highly placed source, referring to Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, the trio that made a hyper-speed jump to global fame on May 25, 1977, the opening night for George Lucas's original "Star Wars" film.

By the time you walk into that theater in 2015 you'll have some sense of what the movie is going to be like. You'll know whether or not some of the original actors are returning. You will have seen the trailer and all that stuff. But it is going to be – I can say this with 100 percent confidence three years out – the biggest event movie in the history of modern cinema. The level of excitement and anticipation about Episode VII is going to be double what it was for Episode I.

Could the buzz over this really be bigger than E1? I doubt it. I think Gen X got burned on the prequel trilogy and won't be as ready to jump on board this time
