I likened him to Joni Mitchell because they both started out as folk artists and gradually got more into a jazzy, world music thing along with their voice registers going much lower

Somehow it worked for him a lot better than it did for her

See normally i have low tolerance for most folk but i can take early cohen. I think the first time i listened to early cohen i wasnt really aware this was gonna be folk so i didn't really think about it this way. Im glad i wasn't told, i might not have bothered otherwise
