Thread for Pallbearer
Every time it gets cold where I live, I shift hard into the slow and heavy. Unfortunately my heavy metal collection is rather limited, since I'm constitutionally unable to get into any cookie monster stuff (except opeth, for some reason). I just start laughing when the vocal is super aggro.
Enter Pallbearer. This band features majestic, truly mountainous riffs delivered at a glacial pace, with unobtrusive, natural singing. The guitars are tuned super low, there's frequent use of guitar harmonies in the leads, and the tone varies from shaggy/dense to soaring/buzzy. The kind of guitar tone that surrounds you and sorta massages your drums.
There's also a sense of playfulness in the way the riffs are introduced, deconstructed, and returned in new shapes.
