I think the Smashing Pumpkins have made PLENTY of donations to worthy causes over the years, and have done so willingly.

Why begrudge them the right to receive their payment, just because others were willing to give theirs? Perhaps the band wasn't in a financial position to be able to make such a hefty donation, especially since it was Greece we are talking about - somewhere they had to pay stupid amounts of money to even get themselves and all of their stuff over there.

Everyone bleats on about how RICH Billy is.. fuck, I bet he's not even half as rich as you believe he would be.. the amount of tax he'd have to pay would be ridiculous. He has to sell his music to huge corporations to get a decent amount of money.. he complains that the music industry isn't what it used to be... he wants us to fund some documentary before he's even made it.. he sues huge companies for not providing them with royalties they were entitled to.. certainly not the actions of someone with millions to splash around.

I really don't think billy lives that lavish of a life style. I'm pretty sure all the money he earns goes right back into the music. We have to remember that he has no studio behind him anymore. So he pays for recording, advertising, pressing, travel, etc. He has to pay for the salaries for everyone in the band, managers, producers, blah blah blah. So its pretty stupid to say he's being greedy. He's just trying to get the money to keep the band going. I'm amazed he does it.
