Folly's Collaborations
i always found it curious how little BC worked w other artists of his generation. i was often eager to hear a new single by some established or up and coming artists featuring BC, but it never really happened.

i have a hard time thinking of morrissey as being corgan's generation. (did he really write for him?)
same with robert smith or the frogs… has he collaborated with anyone born in the 60's or early 70's? |

The band he helped the most in my opinion would have to be Breaking Benjamin (from a career standpoint). Somewhere between 2000-2001 Billy co-produced at least half of their 2nd album "We Are Not Alone". He also co-wrote a few of the songs on it, and from what I recall reading a long time ago their song "Forget It" was basically completely written by Billy (it was an interview with Ben Burley circa 2002ish) that I read when he talked about his experience working with Billy. On SPFC there are at least a few other tracks that credit Corgan with co-writing. It sounded like they had a good interaction, and yeah this band isn't anything to brag about but they are very talented musicians and put on an absolute ridiculously good live show. Not fond of them personally but they aren't Nickelback either. The next band he was featured with and helped in writing/producing was a band called Blindside. In the early days this band started more or less as a "christian" rock band such in the likes of "P.O.D" or whatever genre that was back in the early 2000's, but the difference is that Blindside is actually a relatively cool and interesting band. Don't judge this band from this mediocre song, it's just the only track Corgan contributed guitars to. If you haven't heard their other music I would recommend checking the early albums out. "Pitiful" is a great song by them, "Silence" is also very good. Next one here would be Taproot, I'm pretty sure most of the fans here know about Lost In The Woods, right? Well if not then now you do know! Here's their version and Billy's original demo draft of the song after he wrote it. According to SPFC he has writing credits for a handful of other songs from this band too. He also went on tour with New Order in the early 2000's as well, they have some shows up on the archive you can hear. Here's a studio version of Turn My Way that he sang and played guitar on, pretty good one imo. A more recent collaboration I remember would be with the Scorpions, he sings on the chorus and (maybe?) plays some guitar here for The Cross. The only other one that I can think of at the moment which you might already know about but I'll add it anyway just in case. The album "Iommi", Black Oblivion is such a great jam, really love the breakdown at the end too. Last edited by WakaFlocka : 06-17-2018 at 03:31 PM. |

He’s too insecure and competitive to want to help anyone else.

You're most likely right, and especially these days I'm sure that's true, but I also feel like there was a particular block of time that he was honestly trying to help other bands. Breaking Benjamin and Taproot really are probably the best and only real examples, but this time frame sounds like it was between 2000-2003 and then from there it was all about poetry books and acoustic solo music.
