Doomsday Clock is reset to 100 seconds until midnight, closest ever
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020...t-closest-ever
Perfect time for a single re-issue from the bald lord; think of the publicity and airplay. Why does he never take my advice? I've been posting lots of great ideas-- hurricane Dorian Dorian re-issue, Biggie Smalls Hall Of Fame induction...damnit someone out there on Billy's team check my posting history! Time and time again slam-dunk opportunities are being missed to revitalize his career! So yeah, discuss how much this song sucks without this backstory. |

This song has stood up well since ZG came out.
"There's wagers on this fear Oh, oh, so clear Depends on what you'll pay to hear." Alex Jones should do a cover of this song. |

"It's lonely at the top"
Should be changed to "it's lonely just above middle ground, sort of between Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana and miles behind Madonna and other legendary artists who will be inducted into halls which I'll never get a sniff at-barring underhand bribes, sloppy blowjobs and other kinky possibly illegal sexual favors which shall remain secret unless you're willing to send a bank transfer and wait patiently for the frequently frustrating snail's pace US postal service to deliver the VHS tape to a rural postal box in the middle of nowhere which provides anonymity to its perverted visitors" Admittedly that doesn't really have the same ring to it. " 'Tis lonely when you're pap" might fit better. Gotta get a 'tis in there somewhere. Last edited by Candy Cane : 01-24-2020 at 09:22 AM. Reason: TIS |

First hearing Doomsday Clock was when it hit me that the classic sound wouldn't be recaptured. I remember thinking "man, his voice sounds kinda shot now... Not a lot of dynamic range" At the time, I was hoping it would be an outlier, but unfortunately as we know now, it would be a quality (or lack thereof) prevalent on the rest of the songs.

Billy Corgan was always praised for his dynamic vocal range.
I mean if there’s anything about the Pumpkins no one would dispute, it’s his great singing chops, right? It’s not like the classic SP vocal sound is EQ’ed, compressed, double tracked, and comped together from multiple takes ad infinitum. Nope, that was all pure: Billy’s naked one-take vocal tracks all over Gish, SD, and MCIS. And he sounded so great live, too! Never out of tune, completely blown out, or just screaming his way through song after song from pure vocal exhaustion. Hell, if Billy hadn’t lost his dynamic vocal range, Zeitgeist would have totally had that classic SP sound! That was literally the only thing holding it back. Yes, Joe Rogan himself heard my entire article where I teared him a new one. Last edited by johncg : 01-24-2020 at 05:41 PM. |

Man, even the Netphoria trolls suck now... Truly a sign of the lack of fan engagement surrounding Billy Corgan and his work... Hell, the guy just put out a 17 song album a couple months ago and it did absolutely zero to embolster the fan community. Even the homers on Reddit don't see to care

From Billboard's preview of the album from 2007:
"'Is everyone afraid? Has everyone changed?' Corgan signs on opener 'Doomsday Clock,' a big, loud rocker in the vein of 'Geek U.S.A.' from 'Siamese Dream.' The set is frontloaded with songs of this ilk, hearkening back to the grunge era with detuned guitars and pounding drums on tracks such as 'Tarantula,' 'Orchid' and '7 Shades of Black.'" |

Excellent riff and guitar tone. Other than that, I explicitly despise that snare sound. All the Billy aaahhhhhssas, and of course
Jackal licking balls..... The AOL version is fire though. Last edited by jakobtheliar : 01-25-2020 at 03:13 AM. Reason: Positivity |
