Come on man. There's a difference between doing right by your fans and letting people walk all over you. I could understand all this outrage if the band had tracked down the guy who walked around the rehearsal area a couple days ago and took pictures of pieces of tape. If they had trumped up some trespassing charge on him, that'd be a real shitty thing to do over nothing. But the situation with these two guys totally crossed the line, and its much worse than curious fans being fans. It's like the difference between A) hanging out around Billy's house and trying to peek into his windows (which people have done in the past), and B) stealing his mail out of his mailbox (which people haven't done as far as I know, because its stupid and illegal...just like what these guys did).

If the band wants to go easy on these guys just because they profess to be fans, then that'd be very generous of them, but if the band does press charges I don't see how anyone can hold it against them. It fucking sucks to have things stolen from you, especially when its done by someone who claims to have some affection for you.
