Once Upon A Time has never clicked for me
It's always highly regarded, however, I've never gotten it. I don't hate it, but it just seems kind of "meh".
Someone convince me otherwise. |

that's because you read the lyric book and think he actually says "i went fallllllllling"
when in reality what he actually says is deeper and more meaningful "I went bowling" |

I loves this song.
I probably have a thing for songs in 6/8 timing. |

i actually liked the 20th anniversary show rendition - the horns added some drama, i felt, and made the song feel less stale

The way it builds up with "Once upon a time in my life" and then takes off with "I went falling". Really makes the song. One of my all time favs.

Listening to this on acid at the Davenport show on the August tour last year sealed the deal on this one for me. You can bypass the Davenport and go straight for the acid if you want to get a handle on this tune. LSD bitches.

This song is the shit.
Once Upon A Time seemed pretty cool when the record first came out but the older I get the more trite and plain and lazy it seems. Maybe I'm too hard on it but it seems to hint at some of the more awful things billy wrote later. |

Can't deal with the car horn sounds on the original version. A starting member of the Crestfallen bad-production all stars.

love the song. I really like the plain open heart lyrics. Good singing and nice atmospheric guitar in the background.

one of my all time favorite songs.
one can like it or not, but nobody can say it is shit. together with Ava, Tear, Daphne, Perfect, Sheila, Crestfallen builds up an fantastic album IMO. |

can you play guitar?
this is one of many songs that i found a higher appreciation of once i played it on guitar. not sure why, it doesn't seem too special in anyway, but you get it more that way. other songs like this for me include: beautiful, we only come out at night, medelia, blissed and gone, pennies, cupid, few others... |

No one needs to play guitar to understand how much Pennies rocks.

At the time, Pennies probably could have been a successful single on its own. It's definitely an SP hall of fame b-side.
Once upon a time seems like a very good song adapted poorly onto the album. poorly is an exagerration but i didn't like the version on adore too much. overproduced a bit. I like the jools holland version. i know he was going for that etheral sound but it doesnt wokr when all the instruments bleed into each other like they do on the studio version. |

I find myself skipping this one most of the time when I listen to Adore.

I like it, but it's my least favorite from Adore. A little too syrupy for my liking.
