It always feels so contrived when some rock band brings out Noam Chomsky to speak during a concert or something. I mean, I love the guy, but it seems less like "let's give this guy a platform to communicate his views to people who might not otherwise have encountered them," and more like, "people will see how smart and educated and woke we are if we bring out this leftist academic! It'll be a perfect segue into 'Killing in the Name Of'!" Like, it's all just part of their marketing and branding.

I don't doubt the sincerity of their activism just their music isn't half as rebellious as their lyrics which is why someone like Paul Ryan can dig it
